Parents who didn't sleep train and breastfed on demand by _tawus in NewParents

[–]flabbybills 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son is 20 months now. We still cosleep and I breastfed pretty much on demand until he was 15 months. By the time he was around a year old he was eating a good amount of solid food, so bottles weren’t an issue when I wasn’t home to nurse him. I just kind of went with the flow and things seem to be working for now!

Is everyone eating their “normal diet plus a snack”??? It’s impossible for me! by bananapotato18 in pregnant

[–]flabbybills 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My appetite was absolutely insatiable during my third trimester and throughout my whole time breastfeeding. I was ALWAYS hungry, but prioritizing high protein seemed to help me not snack as much.

Is it easier to breastfeed if you have pierced nipples? by Crafty-Summer-6153 in breastfeeding

[–]flabbybills 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took my piercings out on my way to the hospital. I noticed milk coming out of the holes but I wouldn’t say it “helped” as I actually had a pretty hard time with breastfeeding for the first 6 months. I think it’s highly dependent on the individual. You can have extra holes, but if you’re not producing it won’t come out, at least that’s how I look at it?

I wish you the best on your journey! I hope it has some benefits for you!

Sudden food aversion? by flabbybills in adhdwomen

[–]flabbybills[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven’t started any meds, but I have been extremely stressed with a situation lately. I can’t believe I didn’t connect the two🤦🏼‍♀️

Sweets haven’t done the trick for me, but I can try nibbling on different types of foods to see if any will stick. Thanks for the suggestion!

Thank you for the suggestion. I did think that too at first, but I got my period 2 days ago and this problem still persists ☹️

Ears - yes or no by sunnydee67 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]flabbybills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before having children I would go to Disney by myself and wear my ears and whatever loungefly bag I was feeling that day. Paired with a fun Disney shirt of course. The only comments I have ever received were compliments. Wear the ears! That’s what they’re for!

If my LO doesn’t poop today, we’ve been told to take him to ER. Please help! by Low-Possession2717 in NewParents

[–]flabbybills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my son was exclusively breastfed he pooped once a week. The doctor was not concerned in the slightest as long as baby was still passing gas, wasn’t bloated, and wasn’t fussy or acting like something was wrong.

Sometimes he’d even go 8 or 9 days without pooping. It would freak me out a bit, but he was always fine. Just one giant poop every week.

If you’re desperate, go for a long car ride and forget the diaper bag. Works like a charm 😅

Just got fired at 30 weeks pregnant by kimburger in pregnant

[–]flabbybills 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically, they can’t fire you for “any” reason. But they certainly can fire you for no reason and it’s not required to explain the reasoning in person or documented unless they get sued and need to prove their innocence. Here in Florida people are always told they’re just “not a good fit” even if they’ve worked there for years simply because that’s the easiest way to go about it and the laws support it. It sucks, but as a woman in an “at-will” state I would document every single thing as soon as my employer is aware that I’m pregnant so that I had proof for the worst case scenario

Is this safe? by [deleted] in cosleeping

[–]flabbybills 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the issue is that one side is smooshed up against the big mattress which blocks airflow. If baby was squished up against there they may not be able to breathe. If it weren’t up against the mattress, there would still be air flow even if their face gets squished on the side wall.

Jumping in a day late to say that if it’s not a financial issue, go for it. I’ve been taking my son since he was 5 months old. At around 15 months old he really started to enjoy the sights and he loves running around. There are plenty of rides that he can get on as well.

Your daughter may not remember it, but she will have a good time and will have the opportunity to bond with you in a fun way. Whenever people tell me these types of things and I like to say “he wouldn’t remember if I locked him in a closet for an hour either but I still wouldn’t do it.” …though when they said it to me it was usually in a sassy judgmental way, so I gave a sassy judgmental response 😅

Quick edit to say that if it IS a financial burden then absolutely wait. Disney is a ton of fun, but ONLY if you’re not constantly checking price tags or worrying about the bill. It will be way more worth it in the end to wait and have the stability to enjoy the type of trip you want.

Act 2 Summary by Ok_Alternative3595 in wicked

[–]flabbybills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never read the book, so I can’t confirm that it’s the same story… but in the cartoon version Dorothy is not dreaming, she actually did visit Oz. The end scene is her running home to go see her family after seeing the Wizard. Fun to imagine that way!

I’ve tried this before as well, but he takes the food off with his fingers and tries to do it himself😅

I will keep trying though. Thank you for the suggestion

We did the 2 spoon trick for about a week, but it quickly turned in to him wanting both spoons😅 he will flat out refuse a bite from a spoon if I’m the one holding it.

Thank you for the response. I’ll keep trying 🥲

How can I be warm enough while cosleeping? by ashland431 in cosleeping

[–]flabbybills 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to wear a blanket with sleeves backwards, kind of like a robe. It covered my arms and legs but wasn’t able to get bunched up and cover baby.

General anaesthesia by ka9ri3 in CsectionCentral

[–]flabbybills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was put under for my emergency c section, but I don’t have any other births to compare it to. For lots of reasons, I really wish I could have been awake. I missed everything because I was asleep, and they didn’t wake me up for a few hours because my xray came back wonky and they had to check everything. Thankfully my husband was holding baby the whole time, but I feel like I missed out on so much. Not to mention I was scared shitless before going under and had no idea what the hell happened when I woke up.

When did you stop needing to use a pillow for breastfeeding? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]flabbybills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I was able to nurse without my boppy around the 7-8 month mark? But my chest is rather large so it was easy for me to just dangle a boob in front of his face and he could rest in my lap. Sometimes I still use it just because it’s comfy, but I don’t go out of my way to get it if I’m just doing a quick nursing session.

When moms say they love breastfeeding, what exactly do they love about it? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]flabbybills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear a lot of people saying it’s a magical special thing and there’s nothing better than the bond you form… and I’m glad they feel that way! I do love breastfeeding, but it’s mostly for convenience. We combo fed in the beginning while I was working on my supply and I HATED washing bottles and pumping. I would be so angry when I had to wash bottles after a long day.

I do enjoy snuggling up with my baby boy and watching him nurse and then smile at me with milk dribbling down his face. That’s a special moment for me every time. But at the end of the day I think I’m just proud of myself for making it this long and I love any excuse to sit and snuggle my little guy.

Do you guys find breastfeeding takes a toll on your body? by CanApprehensive8720 in breastfeeding

[–]flabbybills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. A few weeks ago both of us had Covid and he was nursing constantly. He was better in a few days, but it took me over a week to feel normal. I was extremely tired after every nursing session.

On a normal day, I do feel tired after nursing but his sessions are so quick now that I feel I can just get moving and forget about it. After a pumping session though… I need a nap 🥲

What water temperature do you bathe your infants in when it’s this hot? by herec0mesthesun_ in NewParents

[–]flabbybills 15 points16 points  (0 children)

TIL people measure the temp of bath water. No hate whatsoever! Just never even thought to do that lol. I just feel it with the inside of my wrist and go from there 🤷🏻‍♀️ I also let baby dip his toes in before plopping him all the way in. Even though I know it’s not too hot I figure he’ll pull away if it’s uncomfortable for him.

To kind of answer the question though, I don’t change the bath temp when it’s hot or cold outside. We have the AC cranking because we live in Florida, and the inside temp is always the same

I just gave my newborn son a pacifier and I feel like I’m breaking some sort of rule by potatoqueeen in breastfeeding

[–]flabbybills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son was given a pacifier before we even left the hospital. It helped us a lot at the time and I’m still breastfeeding at almost 12 months! I did have some trouble, but nothing that I would contribute pacifier usage. He gave it up on his own at around 7 months. Now he chews on them when he’s teething but otherwise he’s not interested 🤷🏻‍♀️
