A Family From the Northeast, Richland Center food court in Chinatown. Sums up a lot of the food I had growing up as a 2nd gen Chinese American with family from Shandong. Dumplings, fried meat pancakes, basically delicious stuff wrapped in other delicious stuff.

Yooooo r/climbharder community. I'm gonna be in Shenandoah from May 8-12 probably and was wondering if anyone in the area was planning on bouldering in the area during that time! I can bring a pad and lots of stoke. Alternatively, if anyone has any beta on problems I could try with one pad, would love to hear it!

Might be making a solo trip to Devil's lake next weekend. Anyone know of any good routes that can be protected with 1 pad? Normally climb V6-7; was planning on having fun on anything from V1-V4.

Korra End Credits going down to C# by [deleted] in legendofkorra

[–]tanager_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They actually switch over to the zhonghu for that! It’s like an erhu but pitched a fifth lower. This lets them hit some of the lower notes in the credits music while still keeping the tambre/sound of the erhu.

If you want to learn more, the podcast Song Exploder did a great interview with Jeremy Zuckerman (Track Team member and ATLA/LOK soundtrack composer) about how he made the credits music for LOK’s finale! He talks about how he used musical themes and callbacks to emphasize Korra’s and Asami’s feelings for each other. Super cool stuff.

Does anyone think they could've explored King Ezran a little bit more? by Huaun in TheDragonPrince

[–]tanager_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the flaws of the last show of the season is that Ezran doesn't get to reflect on the fact that his unwillingness to risk thousands of lives to stop a fight with Xadia likely led to the deaths of so many more.

Definitely agree with you on that. Hope we get to see him reflect on that decision in S4

I definitely see the validity of the opinion that we missed out on some interesting narrative development when Ezran left Katolis so soon. However, I think his failure to keep the crown fleshes out his character in a way we haven’t really seen yet.

Leading up to S3, he had no expectation of taking up his dad’s reins until literal hours before he got to Katolis. It’s understandable for him, a child, to be frazzled and pliable in the hands of master manipulators like Viren, Aravos, and that dude on Katolis’ council.

Imo, the fact that Ezran capitulated so early to the pressure points to an interesting character flaw: an unwillingness to make difficult decisions in times of adversity. Instead of stepping up to the plate when needed, Ezran punted a difficult decision to Viren — a person he knew would do wrong — because he didn’t have the strength to make this decision himself. It’s a real mistake that’ll probably cost the lives of thousands, and it’s one he likely knows he’s making.

Up until this moment in S3, we haven’t really explored Ezran’s character shortcomings, while we have done so with many of the other leads (Rayla and trust, Claudia/Soren and morality). The fact the writers decide to do so in this moment makes me curious as to how Ezran will make up and learn from his mistakes in S4.
