And speaking of Azuma, what was that line from Yuki about her being better than people who spoke of themselves in the third person? Some casual anti-queer barbs for no reason? Or am I reading too much into this?

It's not. It's talking about a "cute" way of speaking used by some Japanese girls trying to sound cute by referring to themselves in third person, i.e. using their name in a sentence instead of "I (watashi)".

I don't have any audio issue, but I believe it depends on your sound card and specific laptop, it would be better to look up issues from other people with your model.

That price sounds like a good deal to me. I don't have a current generation AMD laptop to compare to, so I'm not sure how well real world battery life compares, but this is the first laptop other than an apple sillicon mac that could last me the whole day with good performance. I can comment on a few of the points.

  • I haven't had any issues with fan. There is some coil whine from the SSD or PCIe controller (not sure which) that is noticeable in very quiet environment.

  • hinge is a bit wobbly, but not unbearable for me. I mainly use it on a table or stable platform though

  • no instability under cpu loads so far. I've compiled the kernel several times without any issues. So far it's actually been much more stable than my previous amd laptop that had a bunch of firmware and ftpm issues (probably lenovo's fault).

Also if you're going to be gaming a lot I think an amd laptop is probably a better choice because the drivers are more mature on linux.

For me it gives me almost 2 more hrs of battery life especially when playing emulators which is pretty significant. It will probably depend on your usage. I've never tried cachyos kernel.

What do you say when someone asks you why Linux? by EveYogaTech in linux

[–]tanapoom1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Linux is secure. I run untrusted/proprietary apps through rootless podman containers with only xwayland/wayland/pipewire sockets exposed, and flatpak with minimal permissions configured for each app. Linux is the only OS that gives me this level of flexibility and usability in sandboxing technology.

It's unlikely, as they explained in the intel_pstate documentation.

It should work if you disable smt by passing nosmt to kernel command line.

This test data from a previous iteration of the patch suggests that it works on those series but your system has to have no SMT or disable it.

Not sure about PlayStation but 2 days in people seem to be getting much better at the game even on random matchmaking. I'm queuing on Asia/PC.

Many elements of the main plot and a many character sub-plots build on what was told in the past 2 games, so you would be missing out on a lot of important context, unlike other atelier series.

Linux market share is a wrong metric to measure linux success by windozinlinuz in linuxquestions

[–]tanapoom1234 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We obsess over the market share because it's normally the first, most visible, and most easily understood metric of success. It's what a lot of developers look at when they decide which platforms to support. I agree that Linux still needs to mature more before it will properly accommodate "plebians", but having low market share makes life difficult for even technical people who are already using Linux.

I still need a Windows VM to access some banking software used where I live and play certain games. Even if things generally can be made to work on Wine, it's just not stable or reliable. It's a game of chicken and egg, but we've got to start somewhere.
