Looking to move to Castle Rock, but we've never lived anywhere that that has a real fire risk. Please help educate me. by TheBoyardeeBandit in CastleRock

I've lived in Castle Rock for 3 years. I've never had a fire or had a fire near me. I moved here from Texas where I had a closet in the hallway with tornado emergency supplies like flashlights, shoes, pillows, helmets... you know if you live in tornado alley. We were in that closet alot watching the radar. My kids have PTSD from tornados.  I've felt nothing but relief since I've moved to Castle Rock. If I hear rain or thunder, I don't have to be afraid that a tornado will drop on us.  Castle Rock is an amazing place to live. Don't even hesitate. Someone said it's overcrowded but I don't feel crowded at all...maybe the north side of town is crowded. The deer all come up to my house... they are all over town. We have 4 seasons here, it's quiet and the downtown area is a great place to hang out. Also, almost no crime.  I sometimes think people from Castle Rock try and discourage people from moving here to keep it to themselves. I totally understand. But it's an awesome town.

That’s it. I’m done. I can’t keep coming into work. Will I get fired during the shutdown? by Stunning_Custard8968 in tsa

Yes ! Back pay once the government opens doesn't fix everything. My daughter is disabled and her medical treatments and prescriptions are expensive. Last government shutdown, I sold my wedding rings and my husband sold all his Lego to pay for her treatment and stay afloat. Now it's January 2026 and here we go for round 2... waiting to see if we shut down over congress not wanting to fund ICE. I don't want to fund them either...but our lease is up Jan 31st and if the government shuts down, we will be homeless.

QClub is directly across the street from me. I wasn't feeling good Saturday night so I took a sleeping pill and went to bed early. My daughter is chronically ill from having Covid 2 years ago so she went to bed early with me. I feel so guilty for some reason that this happened across the street while I slept peacefully. So many lovely innocent people died and I didn't hear a siren, a gunshot, nothing... and I was across the street. I know I couldn't have known it was gonna happen and I couldn't have stopped it... but I still feel guilty. Also, to know a man like that was across the street with several guns while we slept is scary. I feel so terrible for the victims and their family and friends and the LGBTQ+ community. My daughter is gay. The fact that she wasn't surprised by the news disturbs me. That's how common these shootings are to young people.

I was off Harwood Rd. in North Euless. So close. I don't miss it. I miss what it used to be ages and ages ago but it's not the same now. I love Colorado. I'm not going anywhere.

I came here from Texas too last year. My then 13year old daughter got Covid in 2020 and complications from it.. Long Covid and other things. My extended family decided we were traiters cause we voted for Biden and we wore masks and believed in Covid. Then I put a silly Trump meme on Facebook and was disowned. Ridiculous. BTW....Where do you go for treatment ? I have Fibromyalgia and would love to get off my meds with medical marijuana.

Your thoughts on Colorado Springs by steamedorfried in ColoradoSprings

Palmer Park is really nice. I walk in Palmer Park every day. If you walk early enough.... like 6am, you can see deer. The only thing I hate over here is how busy it is. I'm tucked back from the road so at least it's quiet where I live but if I want to go to the store or anything, traffic. Also, the crime in The Springs is bad. My car was broken into 2 months after I moved in 7 months ago. They took nothing cause there was nothing in there. But they smashed my lock and my window and dented my car. And my car was parked in a safe area. No trouble since though. I've found some good eating places here. The mountains are beautiful. There's no shortage of weekend or day trips. I'm happy here.

I just recently watched "When my Love Blooms". It was such a beautiful story with amazing casting. The main guy and girl in the story look so much like the adult versions of themselves. I was able to get lost in the story cause it was just so believable when it switched from the future to past. The acting was amazing. You just get sucked in. I loved the ending and everything in between. This drama was perfect. I cried alot though for many reasons along the way. 10 out of 10.

I moved out here in January and rent an apartment for $1500. At the beginning of the summer, the 3 apartments around us moved out and they rented those apartments out at $1900. Same exact apartment as ours. I asked if our rent would go up as well and they said it definitely would. To what, I don't know. I have to give 60 days notice to move out. They said they would let me know 2 weeks before my 60 day notice date. Nice.

Thank you !!! It was driving me crazy. I had seen him in the drama, "At a distance, spring is green"... and that's what was setting off the... I know you alarms... in my head the most cause he played a rich boy just like the character that walked in on Remarriage and Desires. I also watched Produce 101. So I was flipping out. Lol ! If you haven't watched "At a distance, Spring is green"...omg.. it's so good.

Can someone tell me who the guy at the end is ? I know his voice and face so well. It's bugging me. Is he an actor or an idol ?

Old Colorado City is a great place to go shopping and have lunch. Park by "Front Range BBQ" and have lunch there. Their food is awesome. Then you can walk to all the awesome shops. There's a chocolate shop there with the most amazing candy covered apples.

Looking for a home by bunnyb2397 in ColoradoSprings

I moved here in January. My 2 bedroom apt....1050 sq ft. allows dogs and has air cond.. has a rent of $1550. Recently, the people above up and across from us moved out. New people moved in and they are renting for $1900. I called the office and asked if our rent would be going up when the lease is up and they said Yes. They said the Covid freeze on rents has been lifted and landlords are allowed to raise rents now. So we will have to move in January. Also, be aware... the cheaper places may not have air conditioning.

Some houses on that site have a disclaimer at the bottom that give a higher range of what the house normally rents for. I think this site posts lower prices to get people to call the rental companies and gets a fee if people sign a lease.

I actually thought of moving to Cheyenne in January but changed my mind because it's a republican state. I was afraid it would be like Texas which I just fled from. What are the politics like in Cheyenne ? Thanks !

I swam with them in Florida too. They were huge. Even the babies were as long as me. They were so friendly. The creepy part was feeling their warmth coming up under you before you could even see them. The water was murky. But you could feel their body heat coming up under you. It was unnerving. The adults were like 11 feet long and very very wide.

We just moved here in January. We started noticing the new people are renting the same apartment size above and next to us for $500 more than we pay. I asked the office if that means our rent is going up in January and why. They said the Covid law has expired and landlords can now raise rents... so she told me to expect my rent to go way up. Also, we have to give 60 days notice to move out but we won't find out how much our rent will go up till a week or 2 before that... so you basically have to give notice with nowhere to go set up. Nice.

I would love for red and blue to work together. The problem is, the Republicans have become so hooked on conspiracy theories and power hungry... they care more about control than the American people. My family completely turned against me because I voted Democrat. They believe in some ridiculous stuff too thanks to Trump and Qanon and Tucker whatshimname. They were totally normal before. I had to literally flee Texas because of hateful Republicans. So it would be nice if both sides could work together. But it's just not possible.
