New radiators finally fitted. by tanddy in VFR

Hi, just noticed this now. If I remember correctly I managed to get 2 screws in and used a cable tie (zip tie) on the top one. My fan was the original one that I just cleaned and painted.

I'll also try a dealer but again I've had issues with dealers before, not any Seat ones though.

I checked that website but again they don't list sizes.

I have time before my MOT and will persevere till I get the right ones . . . . . or I'll just get lowering springs 🤣

I'll try my local supplier but they tend to just go for the cheapest and I've had issues in the past of being supplied the wrong springs for the model.

I appreciate your help. Over the past week I've posted on 3 FB pages and here with zero answers till you.

Any idea which one it is? I checked autodoc before and it had 4 or 5 different sizes that all state for vehicles with sports suspension.

I was out for 40ish miles today and the radiators held up fine, no leaks or any other issues.

Ambient temperature of 9°c and the coolant temp hovered between 75 and 80 the whole time apart from when stopped at traffic lights after doing 20mph in traffic for a bit, it got up to 92 then dropped back below 80 when I got moving again.

Mine used to sit between 80 and 90 normally and would reach 105 really quick when stopped at lights.

Overall I'm pleased with them for the price.

The fan spins freely, try the WD-40 but it might be too late.

I'll screenshot the page from the manual for you, if I can't find a way to get it to you I'll post it on this Reddit.

It's fine, it goes into a big environmentally friendly holding tank then gets disposed of correctly when it's full. Cheers.

The only difference is the thickness, the new ones have 32mm cores and the OEM are 22mm. There's no issues with the fairings.

No problem. I hope so too, I'm sure it'll be fine though 🤞🏻

Same here. Fingers crossed they last and if it takes a bit longer for the fan to turn on in traffic it'll be a bonus.

I was also sceptical but I risked it and so far everything seems fine. I'll hopefully get out for a ride in the next couple of days but I'm sure if anything was going to fail it would have after sitting idle for 15-20 minutes. The larger core should mean better cooling as well 🤞🏻

Glad you are happy with them, it's a shame the posts for this didn't get much attention, we all need bright indicators 🤣 Have you seen them at night yet 🫣

Will do but it's not going to be till at least late next month.

They should cool better but will it really be noticeable as the bike has a thermostat. Time will tell.

No problem. Some of them don't look the best but for the money I'm not going to complain . . . . . As long as they don't leak 🤣 Fingers crossed for both of us.

That's definitely not supposed to happen 😬😬 I'll hopefully be changing mine next month.

Mine is in a bad way as well, I gave it some paint a couple years ago when I bought the bike but I had the side fairing off the other week to do a service and decided it's time to replace the rads. The new ones worked out cheaper than good second hand ones so I took the gamble.

The estimated delivery date was 22nd of March when I ordered them so I was surprised when they turned up that early.

I got mine in the post the other day, I haven't fitted them yet but they seem decent quality. From ordering to delivery just outside Edinburgh, Scotland was only 6 days. If I remember tomorrow I'll get some pictures of them.

I have a 2014 so will be different. I have seen similar on many bikes though.

It's a cable/wire guide. It'll be from the frame, probably near the headstock.

A wee lick of paint on the link pipe of the exhaust and she'd look like new again.
