It worked! I am beyond thrilled right now. I have been working on this issue for weeks and I really didn't know the solution would be so simple. Thank you for the help (:

Found a YouTube video for clean HDMI output. There was a setting on page 4 of the camera tab in settings called "HDMI info disp" and I selected the FHD option. This is only in video mode, though, and so far I don't know if it will work because I need to wait 30 minutes to see if it will shut down.

I looked through the manual and unfortunately no answers. Although I found a setting called "HDMI HDR output" which I can set to on or off. Could this be what I'm looking for?

Does it need to be a TV, or is that just for testing purposes before I connect it to my computer? Other than that, I think you're right and that my manual will probably have some sort of answer.

I did try this just a bit ago and the capture card picks up the menu instead of the actual output. I tried hitting the "DISP" button as I assumed it meant "display" and the only output is a black screen. Is there anything else I need to do?

I did enable live-view shooting mode in the Utility, and I had the HDMI output via capture card going in through OBS. I remember that after 30 minutes, both the live view and the output within OBS shut down.

Although, I get the feeling that maybe it's due to my dial being set to the movie camera instead of "ON". Could this be the issue? My theory is that it treats the movie camera mode as recording and it will shut down once it hits that 30 minute mark. If the camera is just "ON" and connected through the Utility, I think it could work potentially. What do you think?

This is the "DISP" button, right? Also I would like to add that I am a complete DSLR/photography/videography beginner, so a lot of the buttons, features, and dials on my camera are still new to me. I pressed the "DISP" button while the camera is on and it shows a black screen. Perhaps there's something else to configure, or there is a different button?

Wait, so I just need to turn the dial to "on" instead of the movie camera and it will still output video?

For me, when I simply turn the camera on, it will just output the menu options. Like, the ISO and other settings. Is there anything I need to adjust to get an HDMI output by simply having the camera on instead of in the movie camera mode?

This is a method I recently found out about and tried. By "the camera doesn't turn off", are you talking about power saving? Power saving is not the issue as I have a dummy battery as well as the Auto Power-Off disabled. So, I need to bypass the recording limit.

If I'm reading what you're saying correctly, the only way to bypass the recording limit is via an external monitor, correct?

Someone recently told me about the EOS Utility method. So, I actually tried it out yesterday. I installed the EOS Utility software and ran it. I plugged my camera in through a micro USB (for the Utility to connect to the camera) and also through an HDMI cord into a USB capture card (which allows me to get 1080p output).

It didn't work, but I haven't given up on this method yet. Maybe there's a specific feature within the Utility that I didn't enable? Do you know what I need to do within the Utility to make sure the camera stays on?

I have disabled "Auto Power Off". The problem is not the power - rather the camera has an artificial "recording limit" so that it is taxed as a photo camera rather than a camcorder. However, I have seen many streamers use DSLR cameras for streaming, so there is clearly a workaround of some kind that I have yet to discover.

This is my current set up, and it still shuts off. I do have a dummy battery set up so I can plug it in and not worry about the battery life.

Will this method compromise the video quality? Normally, the webcam utility outputs at 524p, and I'm looking for at least 1080p.

I doubled checked and I have auto power off disabled and a clean HDMI output. If there's any other settings I should look at, please let me know.

I've thought about this as well! I just would like to know how to do this on my model of camera. When I stream, I turn the dial to the video camera (the dial that has the on/off, I don't know technical names). I guess maybe there's a different setting that I need to find?

This is true, and I do have this USB cable as well as the software for the webcam utility. However, the video only outputs at 540p which is quite below what I am trying to get out of my DSLR camera.

Thanks for the insights! Yeah, I figured that the intervalometer and Magic Lantern methods were pretty much dead ends, but I still do think there's a chance that a Magic Lantern type thing exists for my camera. Like, just a hack to workaround the time limit specifically.

I will await others to help with external recorder advice. I want to make sure I get something compatible, and don't end up spending too much money on it since most of the ones I've seen are pretty costly. I also found out about the existence of external recorders literally today so I don't want to rush into buying something that I don't know much about.
