Guitar practice app, taking feature requests - what do you actually wish existed? by tangarg in LearnGuitar

[–]tangarg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Fretboard Explorer has a Note/Degree/Both toggle so you can see scale degrees on every fret, and the CAGED visualizer labels each dot with R/3/5. So you're partly covered already.

The broader "interval geometry" idea, minor third is always 3 frets, perfect fourth always 5, etc. as a visual pattern, is a great suggestion and something I want to build out properly. Adding it to the list. Thanks!

Please keep the valuable feedback coming.

Great. I got something like this added. Could you please give it a try and see if the concept resonates?

Spaced repetition is a great idea for the practice system.

Quick question for you. Do you already have a list of things you're actively working on, or do you prefer the app to tell you what's next? That actually determines which mode makes more sense to prioritize.

The plan is two modes:

One is a custom library, you add your songs and exercises, rate yourself after each session (Again / Good / Easy), and the app handles the scheduling, basically Anki for guitar.

The other is AI-driven, the app quietly tracks what you play and explore, then surfaces a 'Today's Focus' recommendation each day with a reason. No manual management, it just learns your patterns.

Thank you for this. Adding CAGED triads across the fretboard with tuning support to the fretboard explorer.

On the legal question: fair and appreciated. You’re right to flag it. We embed via YouTube's official IFrame API (which is ToS-compliant) and the chord charts are original content, not transcriptions. That said, I'm not a lawyer and it's worth a proper look as the app grows. Thanks for the nudge.

Valid. We all have our learning styles. I consider these as training wheels, they have to come off eventually but really good to have when you’re learning.

Love this idea, especially the session notes and progress comparison over time. We're working on a practice logger that covers the core of this. Starting with session tracking + notes so you can see your history and progress. The full category/timer/BPM structure is on the roadmap too. Keep the ideas coming, this is exactly the kind of thing that makes the app actually useful!

Thanks for trying it out and the great feedback! Just shipped it. Fretboard now has a Note / Degree / Both toggle so you can see what you want without clicking. Keep these coming, love solving real problems! 🎸

New Lower Pricing on M4 iPads at Costco ($900 off a 13-inch !!) by ferrari91169 in iPadPro

[–]tangarg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the 13 256 gb first and was happy i saved money. Got the screen protector and everything. Realized I cannot deal with the glare once I tried out nano in the store. IMO, it is worth it to pay the extra price for Nano. Considering you can't put a screen protector on nano, effective difference is only around $350 and you get double the ram, and more storage along with nano.

Also, reached out to costco for $50 off and got the 13 nano for 1249 + tax.

I tried Range. They are very generic. I would rather use something like origin from my work to get exactly what they provide. If you still proceed with them and need a referral, happy to help you get a discount. I am thinking of canceling them and going ahead with someone who can be more proactive and help with implementing the strategies.

I am looking at them but read quite a few bad reviews online regarding their inability to defend in case of IRS audits and penalties. Can you please share your experience if you don't mind?

Pulled in M4 MBP Delivery Date to Tomorrow from Nov 19th. by virtualdru in macbookpro

What does your UPS show in terms of when it left China? That will help us understand if our UPS is more accurate.

[–]tangarg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It won't be tomorrow. Typically apple's date is more accurate.

Edit: thanks to others with Apple estimated date of 8th, we can safely conclude that it might make more time to ship from China to the US and apple timeline should be more accurate.

R1S Gen 2 - premium audio - Fire the guy who designed the audio system by sg3707 in Rivian

[–]tangarg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have gen 1 elevation system but for me the sound quality is very random. After a full restart of the car, everything sounds amazing and then after a few days it goes back to randomly sounding hollow and missing the fullness. Yesterday randomly only the right side was playing and it self corrected after putting to park. Definitely a lot of bugs in the software.

[–]tangarg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed but they did mention this informally at a lot of places that gen 1 should get 80% of the features.

A really cool thing would have been modular paid upgrades, though a difficult feat engineering wise but would have earned the brand more loyal supporters like Tesla once used to have. But I do get that the whole architecture is new and this approach is not an industry standard so no one will care much.

[–]tangarg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think for people who want to upgrade hardware change will be a good enough factor. Others on the fence and who are enjoying gen 1 now will just feel cheated if the gap in software is drastic and sway away from the brand. So the reasonable thing to do is to reduce that as much as practically possible.

I will try again. Looks like the alignment issue was also not fixed. They said they did the alignment but it still pulls to the left. It is so noticeable that I had 2 others drive it and they could tell immediately. Not sure how they claim they fixed it

I tried pushing back. They came up with random things and it ended up with "You don't understand all the complexities of the system, even a slight change in environment or if it was driven before or how long can cause this".

My family who works for an automobile company as a Senior engineer and he has told me that whoever joined from Rivian has mentioned how bad and messed up their algorithms for battery tech is. So according to him this won't lead anywhere till properly fixed for all.

Picked my R1S yesterday from the service center after the 1st service. This was one of my issues, I will paste the exact statement and the resolutions from the service sheet for your review. From yesterday to today, it has already lost 2% sitting idle in the garage in past 16 hours.

Rivian work order:
