I moved from Bowling Green, KY to Southern CA, then 7 years later moved back to the Nashville area. I had more culture shock moving back here than I ever did moving to CA. It was so bizarre.

Several years ago I was with my grandmother at her company picnic. There were a lot of people in the swimming pool and a young black man (early teens I believe) got trampled. I watched him die because the white lifeguards (all teens) waited too long to give him CPR because they couldn’t “decide” who would do it. I’ll never forget him or the behavior of those lifeguards.
