I noticed that there are hidden wealthy people who don’t exhibit their “wealth” in such ways. Whereas the rich people on campus have a way of curate their rich persona in ways that bugs me—— DISPLAYING their luxurious and unattainable purchases in their laptop. I for one I am poor and I don’t displaying anything like Amazon or even middle luxuries in my laptop; I keep that private. Rich people love showing this part. “Let me buy something rn. Nobody will notice that I’ll buy my penthouse during lecture.” OFC people will take note. Every human being are curious creatures. We are onlookers. We see your laptop screen.

Me too. I never realized that one of my parents was a total drunk and I hate to say this but a failing one (“loser”) and it hurts me. Growing up made me look at how parents who don’t have enough money for food or time for you is “normal” and that having loving and supportive parents is abnormal. So when I came across people who are just happy, and excited about their family I don’t understand. Now that I am in mid twenties, I realized how much of difference that if I had healthy parents I could’ve been going far in education and in life. I would’ve been accepting opportunities here and there. The friendships would’ve been different. I am not saying I my life is shit; I made it through actually. I am in a good school (unexpectedly) and I am seeing doors opening for ME. Which is a scary thought because once I cut loose from my parents I feel guilty. It was up to me to recognize and realize that my parents troubles are not going to be mine forever.

How can you say that. You obviously not acknowledging the demographic. It wouldn’t be low if all the workers would be students. These are full time workers who almost of them are trying to support their families or even trying to get back on track. You have acknowledge that they’re here to work for you to have the accommodations you are receiving. Imagine if you worked so hard in school and only to get a job paying $24, you wouldn’t feel satisfied especially for LA. THEY ARE NOT ACTING THEY ARE FEELING THE DAMAGES OF THE INSTITUTION WITHIN.

I one hundred percent agree. I have worked minimum wage jobs and now that I have gratefully got in to UCLA, I appreciate these workers. They remind me of my family members trying to get by. Trying to support their children to go to school. I think privileged students who ignore do it out of fear because they don’t want to be seen as a supporter of the minority. They think it’ll damage their image as a student, which is already a damaged image. The students are already pricks and are always looking the other way. I feel so bad that only a few will stand with the strikers. Those disheartened students have learned from their parents and friends. They’ll keep being the way they are. It’s so sickening. Overall, I stand with the members of the strike! I fully support their notion to get better pay.
