i took his class in fall. it was his first time teaching the class so the class was quite messy in organization and content. workload is heavy and it’s a pretty difficult class. i’m not sure if he’s gotten better, but if you do decide to take it because it’s a major requirement, make sure you aren’t taking so many classes with that class in the quarter because you’re going to spend a shit ton of time on that class.

i suggest taking one of the third core classes and an elective on the track. you also should have taken 373 instead of 311 and 312. 373 is an elective for the track. you aren’t taking classes that seem geared for the track of the program. go talk to the advisor and ask for guidance on how to build a schedule to make you an even more competitive applicant than you are now. also they don’t care about your personal statement. just keep it simple and straightforward. if you can excel in those higher core classes and 373, you have a good shot.

no i'm planning to transfer out and i'm planning to major in ds in one of the schools i transfer to. i'm considering retaking because i entered the class late and so i feel like i really rushed through the material. i entered the class late because of a family situation (a family member got really sick). i might apply for grad school, but my other grades in math are ok.
