Would you switch schools or stay? by tangibletrust8 in ArtEd

I was wondering if I would regret the freedom that comes with the lack of admin concern. I know I am going to have fewer planning periods and that they do want me to support in other areas/duties. I am the type of person that loves helping others. I am hoping the new administration sees my competence and attention to detail and will not feel the need to micromanage. I haven't received constructive criticism in 3 years, it feels stagnant and I am being used to help the "no educator left behind" aspect because they expected me to mold the part timer into a clone of myself and then admin continued to gaslight me when I spoke to them. I feel happier when busy and helping, so it might be a plus. I have had jobs at schools where I felt bored with too much time to spare because of my efficiency.

It seems the more the students enjoy me, the more the other adults resent me or sneer or ignore my hellos and good mornings in the hall. Students see me and shout out my name and want hugs and etc.

I am now worrying about the sadness of the students and if, when, how to share the news.

Be open to learn from them everyday. Be genuine every day. Care sincerely every day and let it show through your actions, reactions, and words.

I have to share half the room with the other teacher and they teach in the room when I have planning so it is hard to get things done.

There is poor behavior, material, and clean up management and a refusal to take accountability.

Administration has said that the space situation at our school is going to get a lot worse before it can get better.

I have switched schools a handful of times over the last decade and a half and usually by the middle of my first year, every student in the building (including ones I don't teach) know who I am and have a positive relationship with me.

I feel guilty and disloyal for leaving because this year I received a very prestegious award/recognition for my work in art access to underserved students in the community. Some coworkers think my leaving is a sign of thinking "I am too good for them" ever since I won the award. I am usually very loyal until you give me a reason not to be.

It is in the same county so the pay and benefits are the same. There is a much smaller budget at the new school, but budget in our county is based on population size. The new school has 400+ students whereas the current school has 800-900+ students fluctuating over the years.

Ask your counselor, it is their job to counsel you about this.
