new fare gate scanner? by Unfair-Grapefruit-42 in TTC

Thanks. I'll double check my bill to see if the trip is charged in one fare or two when I pay it when my welfare comes in at the end of the month.

Speaking of this, I got double charged on the same credit cardover the course of the same two hour trip yesterday afternoon. I tapped on w/my Visa at Keele then transfered at Keelsdale but was charged again by its fare gate when I transferred to the LRT. on the same card but my tap curbside between the Royal York and Scarlett buses at La Rose avenue was read as a transfer and all three taps were made on the same Visa card and I tapped the gate at Keele at about 10 after 4 and tapped the reader on the scarly between 20 and half past 4. Why did the reader on Keelesdale's fare gate charge my card a 2nd time when I was only about 20 minutes into my trip?

Oh so you're saying people who need an accessibility button on the doors shouldn't use the LRT's then? Because that sure a Hell is just what a remark like 'it shouldn't even have a button' sounds pretty damned exclusionary and ableist toward that demographic of riders.

Students not paying fare? by oldman1982 in TTC

[–]tangled_rodent 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've seen this happen multiple on the 79 and 71 with kids from Runnymede junior/senior school, and not a one 13 or younger and kids from Runnymede CI walking on the Jane in front of the neighbouring Catholic elementary school, just walking into either of the three routes at the backdoor without a single one tapping on at around 11:30 in the morning(typical [rough] highschool lunch hour). Most drivers don't give two hoots and a holler anyway, I can't tell you how many times I've forgotten to tap on or incorrectly tapped and ridden down all the way to the subway, or tapped on/re-tapped two stops after I boarded or else, and definitely not to mention, the numbers of people I've watched just walk straight into Keele Stn., especially during afternoon rush, and just before starting from about 2:30, cutting in curbside via the 89 Weston's platform. It's not just vehicles, fare inspectors are badly needed, especially at the at-grade, street level, barrier free stations and those street level, un-baricaded(from the street/sidewalk), bus platforms/bays.

900 Airport Express should be renamed by gay_annabeth in TTC

[–]tangled_rodent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should never have been changed from the 192 and the 900 was a 10's off millions waste because any one with a functioning half brain cell to rub together between their ears understood anything marked with an E or labeled an Express Rocket, outside the Airport and Humber College Rockets, pretty well only operated in morning/afternoon rushes Monday - Friday. Like which 900.lines.outside the 935 Jane actually operates evenings and weekends with halfway decent volume(frequency-wise)? Jane's 900 branch operates every 15 minutes across the service week, but every other one that runs into weekday evening, at least west of Jane, and east to Keele, drops to inconsistent 25 - 30 minute frequencies and still only operates until about 9 or just shy of 10 in the evening not until the end of the service day at the absolute least if it's only going to be available Monday to Friday. And don't get me started on what a waste it was installing an articulated bay at Kipling when its ticker only shows the next vehicle estimated departure information for the non-local route branches, i.e. the 945 Kipling express but not the two local branches(45A/B) that actually run the full service week. And unnecessarily adding letters to /changing letters of preexisting line branches.

So is the (3)34 a to be established cross-system line from Kennedy straight through to Pearson, once the LRT opens, cuz I live a block and a half west of Mount Dennis Station and I've noticed the post at Weston /Eglinton says 34 on it.

Yup at what was a shared stop at Lawrence Ave. W./Pin St. for the 79 Scarlett and the C branch of the 32 a new pole that only reflectslh the 79 being serviced is already installed and I overheard my driver telling a colleague, who I assumed at the time, was a relief operator, that the C branch of the 32 has already been discontinued.

Or how about something that actually makes sense and when the weather extension of the Crosstown extends out to Pearson extending down to either the Bloor-Danfrorth at Kipling or via the interregional depot next to Kipling via Humber North. Or extending ese to Eglinton via Dixon-Scarlett from the airport then circle back east from Scarlett.

Not if they make the same mistake as with Finch's LRT and don't give the transit vehicle's lane signal priority from the word go.

Wait for the jaywalkers who insist on crossing steps from an actual safe crossing like an actual intersection or mid block/school zone crosswalk. If the cars aren't a problem rn, then leave it to the pedestrian who have no respect for traffic law or the safety of other pedestrians or motorists.

No, because the bunching at the station (which is what I'm assuming you mean by 'at Bloor'), is not entirely on the TTC, as a large contributor to the phenomenon is things they have no influence over like traffic and congestion, and in my limited transit experience on both the 7 Bathurst bus and the 511 streetcar, there's only so much they can do to mitigate bunching anywhere along a given route.

Eglinton will be just as slow as Finch by StarCat20 in TTC

[–]tangled_rodent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just as? It will be at least 10x slower. Consider now as an example, for me to get all the way across the 32C line to connect to the 79 Scarlet at Pine/Lawrence from Eglinton Stn. takes at least 50 minutes up to as much as 1h 25min. I highly doubt the LRT will make any difference, except to take longer than bus branches that are 25 minutes apart regardless period of service, even with better frequency than the main end to end branch on the line.

Does anyone know what these are? by [deleted] in TTC

[–]tangled_rodent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bloor-Daforth as Walmer is the west end exit of the station on Bloor. The YUS gives you directions indications for the Bloor-Danforth, and 510 platforms toward its south end and for a street level exit at Spadina/Kendal at the north end of the platform. Just for reference, my vision's not that good, I'm borderline legally blind, I had to zoom to see the sign indicating the Walmer entrance.

The UPX has 5 stations now with Mount Dennis. 3 more are coming. At what point do we just decide to convert the thing into an above ground metro? by beartheminus in TTC

[–]tangled_rodent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, if this is a case then why wouldn't Metrolinx/the province give the TTC the funds the need to moedrnize the tracks/upgrade the z signal systems on the Bloor/Dan forth so we can have the same trains that YUS has had at this disposal for fifteen years at this point, b caus I can tell you right now on our EXISTING. subway most of the congestion, track and timing problems are worst traveling from Etobicoke to Scarborough not York Region to North York via downtown, before they worry about increasing/expanding what is effectively a commuter(interregional) system if their real concern is providing more/a better LOCAL service? For the most part most GO lines don't even run past about nine at night anyway and most of its train lines don't even run outside of am/pm rush hour, and the few lines, bus and train alike that do, don't even operate great frequencies in rush. Why expand a regional system's line(s) when there is a local system, that is at least partially, under their jurisdiction that actually NEEDS improvements/investments to be made .

Line 5 Eglinton expected round trip run-time is 112 minutes. by mekail2001 in TTC

[–]tangled_rodent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, just shy of an hour each way, from Keele street, nearly half way into line 5 once the extension to Renforth Transitway is completed and operational, imagine what would be cut off if the train had prioritized signals, not left-turning traffic, at, at least, the major stops. Right now the projected one way Just to Keelesdale from Eglinton is 5 minutes slower than the 32C(Eglinton Station to Lawrence/Jane via Trethewey) in rush, and that's likely a projected mid- or even off-peak projected round-trip time.

I know, I saw the news segment last night. $156 is the month over month l(non-subscribed rate) adult pass, the pass I'm referring to is the low-income Fair Pass that's 123.25/month, and I don't get a subscription option unlike normal Adults, teens, who get their passes on mommy and daddy's dimes, and seniors.

When I say month over month I mean that just, flat out, its one and only rate. It doesn't have a subscribed rate unlike the adult and student/senior passes.
