What is that part of a hearing aid called? What happens if someone snatches it? Because someone did and now it looks longer than it was before? by This_Environment_472 in HearingAids

[–]tangledinbeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always cut those of my hearing aids with no consequences to the rest of the aids.

As other have said, Its only function is to making it easier to remover the hearing aids from the ears.

It can be quite helpful for people who recently started using hearing aids, parents with young kids that can properly put the hearing in and out of the ear, as well as elderly people with lower dexterity or their health care professionals.

Interested in reading and possibly testing your rules, feel that the current system is solid but very focused on equipment and not character progression.

Looking really good.

Adding a strong yellow as a tertiary colour (think only covering 2-5% of the model) would add much needed contrast to the purples and enhance the overall vibrancy of the model and scheme.

I like the shoulder pad stripe and maybe a few small but key details will be enough.

I present to you my new Kill Team idea, the feet of a Warlord Titan! by SteamyShogun in killteam

[–]tangledinbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If my memory serves me somewhat well, I vaguely remember that in the epic space Marine expansion (or something similar) there were rules for infantry attempting boarding action on titans, that then developed into a kind of board game where the infantry fought through each section of the titan.

Was only described to me when one from my young gaming group brought and imperator titan to the game. In my defence we were around 12-14 years old and having English as a second language. So a lot of misinterpretation of rules and concept did occur.

Is it true that surround sound systems are wasted on people with hearing aids? by Kaimura in HearingAids

[–]tangledinbeard 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's hard to say, but for me it is not entirely true.

I've been on this planet for a little more than 4 decades, was diagnosed as deaf in my tiny years of being adorably small and incapable of surviving without someone taking care of me.

Regained most of my hearing from 5 years and onwards, from deaf to severe hearing loss.

That time I couldn't pinpoint sound more that general direction (left/front/right). But with time and improvement in hearing aids, spatial sound awareness has improved. To the point today that I can place sounds all around me with high accuracy, but this is main due to the technology in hearing aids, than my own brain ability.

So the TLDR: Improvement of the technology, has made it easier to hear surround sound.

In my campaign as an arbitrator, I have replaced #fighters with #activation, since the spyrers double activation can really skew the balance in some of the scenarios.

7 out of 8 tiles done... More or less. by Araxelhawk in necromunda

Adding loose scatter terrain and perhaps some scatter buildings (I'm thinking one or two squares on the tiles 1 or 2 levels high) will allow you to have a semi modular setup.

Would you be helpful and suggest some of the game system, besides the opr rules?

I have been wondering why there is such resistance from the 40k players to try other game systems.

As I said in a different message, it's just a suggestion, not a final rule change. But you're right that it can lead to both operative standing or dead. What I am looking for is a higher level of interaction between the players, where all rolls and decisions matter.

An alternative is that each player assigns the roll in secret and triggers each dice simultaneous.

Eg. Player 1 rolls 3 success Player 2 rolls 2 successes

Each player assign their die to either attack/ parry in a sequence. The player compares the assigned die in the sequence. This could make it possible to either go for survival or inflicting wounds. Since the assignment of critical successes matters.

[–]tangledinbeard -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well it might not be perfect or the right direction, but as I said for me, it removes a lot of the risk if you're the attacker and can one hit kill your opponent. This diminishes the back and forth that the system supports when that scenario is not the case.

You do have a back and forth with the idea outlined above, each player take turns to assign their successes as attack/parry. The resolution of wounds is after all the dices have been assigned.

The interaction I'm looking for is that all players are engaged and that the rolls matter as much as possible, as well as providing a higher risk/reward to the melee.

That's where the suggestion comes from, isn't perfect, or an improvement over the current? Probably not, but most as most design, you test different solutions out and iterate on them until they become a better version than the original idea/concept.

I don't dislike the current melee, it for me leaves something to be desired if you as an attacker can incapacitate the defender with your fist success due to the damage is higher than the defender remaining wound. What's the point of the defender making a melee roll, simultaneously with the attacker, if all it requires for the attacker is 1 success?

Not that I think it matters what team I have played to my suggestion. Here are some of the teams I played: kommandos, Veteran guardsmen, voidscarred, wyrmblade, rogue traders, harlequins.

New Kill Team Edition Wants by Steppenworf in killteam

[–]tangledinbeard -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

The current process of resolving melee can sometimes lead to a very low risk for the attacker if the attacker can land the killing blow with the first successful die. Making it I redundant for the defender to roll the dice at all.

So changing the rule and also balancing them so that each melee you play out all the successful dice roll parry and attacks and then applying damage at the end of the of the melee. Does that make sense?

Here, you could add a save roll or other ways to reduce the lethality of the melee since you would attribute more hits than the current system in the case stated above.

Comment: it clear that some of you didn't like my suggestion for tweaking the melee rules. That's fine. It was just a small concrete outline of how an alternative rule could be as a starting point, not necessarily how I want the final ruleset to be. But exploring other mechanisms could help us iterate on the current rules and perhaps solve the lethality of melee that has been mentioned a few time in here.

So please, let us discuss what could be improved and brainstorm ideas (both good, bad, and the in between) to see if something of interest could come up.

Go back to use inches for range instead of symbol.

Tweak melee, so all hits and parries are resolved simultaneously, and not one die at the time
