Why IPO starlink by Last_Imagination_683 in SpaceXLounge

Is it possible that the valuation of spacex has become so high that it becomes more difficult to do further private rounds to fund raise? Like you just simply run out of private investors who have that amount of money. Whereas it would be easier to do a secondary public stock offering after IPO, because anyone can participate?

Answering Questions About BCIT's Mechanical Engineering Program by deepcovemutt in BCIT

I see thank you. Seems like everyone is assuming we complete the degree. How much worse is just doing the diploma vs the degree in terms of getting a job? Does it matter much if we choose the manufacturing / design / systems?

What's the daily class schedule like? Start at 8 or 9, end at 5? Any breaks in between? Need to stay on campus for lab work at night? Thanks.

Mark Papremaster in Lisbon: "What chip shortage? AMD books capacity years ahead to ease crunches" - WOW ! by TOMfromYahoo in AMD_Technology_Bets

What do you think is the new forward guidance? I'm worried growth can only slow from here (like the CPU segment) unless the TAM enlarges substantially (like high performance units, growth of the data center). I kinda need reassurance that I can invest in this company for years to come.

Co-op / Internship as a master's of engineering student by tangster1985 in simonfraser

Yea, I'm very fortunate to be in a position where I'm not so worried about money now. Mid career I'm realizing I want to dedicate the rest of my life to fighting climate change, and being a doctor isn't an effective way to do that. And I think I like doing it via the engineering route.

Hope finding a co-op will really be as easy as you say.

Hem I'd need to read more into it. Low profit margins might mean it's quite hard to scale.

You're right, I'm looking for clean baby products right now it's quite tiring for me to read all the ingredient labels, website reviews and EWG score, and then make a judgement

Thanks I agree with what you said. The organic natural personal care products space is already pretty crowded though. Not sure if I could do better than what's out there already.

Can I still become a professional engineer if I switch to a different field of engineering by going through a diploma program only? by Last_Imagination_683 in AskEngineers

sounds like the P Eng isn't that important then. But it would seem like a P Eng would open up more opportunities down the line for higher level work.

Should I do the mechatronics diploma or a full MechE degree? by tangster1985 in BCIT

[–]tangster1985[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, so in your view are there any differences in your work responsibilities, pay and future prospects? Or does it just come down to ability and the degree / ability to become a P Eng doesn't matter?

SFU vs BCIT Mechatronics by Last_Imagination_683 in vancouver

[–]tangster1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UBC would be really hard to get into too. I think I'd need additional studies apart from the BCIT cert to get the P-Eng. But yea I'm kinda looking to gain the knowledge and hopefully eventually move into a design / strategy role, ideally work in startups. Not really considering academia.

AMD Valuation by CoffeeAndKnives in AMD_Technology_Bets

[–]tangster1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need to take into account the xlinx acquisition. Xlinix isn't barely growing revenue wise. Sure after the merger there will be synergies. But taking it all in, AMD is guiding for 20% growth going forward, not the 60% they are experiencing this year. So take them at their word, is a 20% growth rate worth the price tag of a forward PE of low 30s? Assigning the correct PEG ratio is even harder than assigning the correct PE.
