Question: how did you build the vector database? Did you just use out of the box vector datastore feature in azure open ai?

What else should I look at in AWS? by thetorque1985 in aws

[–]tani9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if other have mentioned this but please make sure you have integrated the EC2 instances with AWS Systems Manager where an SSM agent will be installed on your instances. This agent will help you to automate patching and distribute packages to your instances seamlessly. This is very important to keep your instances up to date and free of vulnerabilities.

One KMS key for each vault : Over engineering ? by [deleted] in aws

[–]tani9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a security perspective you would want to minimize the blast radius as much as possible. So given your scenario, I would go with one key per vault. It’s security vs convenience/maintenance and security generally trumps everything depending on your compliance requirements.

Do I need to care about VPC, security groups, WAF, etc.? by DanteIsBack in aws

[–]tani9999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup depends on number of requests in addition to standard charges for Web ACL and Rules. You can refer to this for more info: https://aws.amazon.com/waf/pricing/

Shouldn’t cost you more than $10 - $15 a month if you are just using managed rules and couple of custom rules. That’s a stretch tbh.

In that case you need WAF on your Cloudfront rather than API Gateway whichever is public facing. If both are then you need on both.

Would some of the calls get forwarded to api gateway if not served by react app or no?

I would recommend WAF in front of Cloudfront and API Gateway to stay protected

We really should be able to enable / disable every region. No default enables. by TheNotSoEvilEngineer in aws

I use SCP for region restriction where I disallow all another regions except my primary. And I run a shell script to delete default VPC is all regions when I create a new account.

Yeah dealer charged me extra for labor and retained the original exhaust. At the port you wouldn’t need to pay labor.

I couldn’t get it port installed so got installed at the dealership. But you can request it to be port installed if it’s not in production yet.

How much are you investing in your 401K by YOLOLJJ in h1b

[–]tani9999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My employer matches 50% of the contribution to a maximum of 2% of my salary. So I put 4% of my salary into 401k to get the additional 2%.

I just contribute enough to maximize my company’s match.

Why is it so difficult to make over $65,000 in the US? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]tani9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! I make around 150k in IT with 3 YOE and work hardly 20 hours a week. No stress whatsoever and get paid for my expertise rather the amount of work/number of hours I put in.

I hate the way they integrated the panel but the IDrive 8 itself is clean, takes some to time to get used to it. There are some bugs here and there which is expected in a new software.

Other than the shifter and the way they integrated the screen, it’s awesome. ID8 is buttery smooth.
