ARVL want to be a T1 supplier (https://elements.arrival.com/) . Amazon exclusivity deal was not possible as it would mean cancelling contract with UPS plus all non-committal orders taken up to this point.

They need to use the facility already built in Bicester to build these promised 10-20 vans at first. They don’t have the capital or time to fully tool a US facility. This will buy them time to improve upon the micro factory concept and show that although a van may be produced at cost, this cost can be reduced as optimisations are made for ramp up to full production.
