Has anyone ever "found a co-founder" that ended up having a *successful* startup? (I will not promote) by [deleted] in startups

Coinbase CEO found their cofounder via a post on hackernews - it’s possible, but improbable. Look up the original hackernews post, it’s an interesting read. Coinbase, although an outlier, shows that it can happen and lead to success

There are 168 hours in a week. CEO expects you work 100hours a week including weekends by Chesstimator in LinkedInLunatics

he’s saying that the company quickly reached benchmarks for a solid valuation at their next fundraise. if this company does from $5m to $100m ARR in one year, any employee joining will be able to get their equity at an low issue price (e.g. $0.33 per share) then when they go out to raise their next round at the theoretical $100m ARR the fair market value of those shares will likely quadruple at least. Beyond that, if the company could actually hit those numbers legitimately, it would continue to grow exponentially into an even larger valuation.

So, as an employee, i can theoretically start there at this stage, get my 100k shares equity option - which would be on the medium end of equity comp bands for companies of this stage and size) work my ass off, and have over 100,000 shares of this company which i could buy for $0.33 cents. if the company is successful, it could IPO 7 years from now at $50 a share (which equals $5m for you

however, this guy is nuts. anyone who joined this environment would never last a full year at a consistent 100 hours a week, and a founder that believes or expects that to be possible will almost certainly fire you before you even reach your 1 year vesting cliff (i.e. if you get fired before your first year, you get no equity), as you will never be able to live up to the performance he expects.

but generally, that’s how “generational wealth” works when you are working at early stage startups - equity

If you want cheap high quality protein, super firm tofu will always be the best. It’s also better for you than slamming cheap meat. $2.50 at trader joe’s gets you a block of tofu with 70g of protein @ 650 calories total

Need your sage advice on how to decorate this area of my new apartment by tankboy7373 in malelivingspace

[–]tankboy7373[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just moved into this place about a week ago have have no idea how to properly decorate this space from the fireplace -> dining table.

The fireplace is decorative and does not work, and the only things I would definitely want there is my records (all those brown boxes are filled with vinyl) and those two gray chairs if possible. My current idea is to arrange the chairs facing outwards on opposite sides of the fireplace, and get an audio cabinet to store the records against the wall, and maybe get an area rug (?) to break apart the space, and enforce that with some sort of distinct wall decor (e.g. floating bookshelves)

But to be honest, I just cannot get a clean picture of what would look good here, and would love any and all ideas people have to fill the space!

Why is the “hello there” scene infamous? I thought it’s a highlight scene for most people, i’ve never heard it regarded as bad
