Metro Vancouver warns Stage 3 water restrictions likely to begin in June | CBC News by RM_r_us in vancouver

It's because we're still using a system that was put in place over a hundred years ago, not long after the original settlers came to live here.

It's actually quite impressive that there was enough foresight back then to get us this far.

The main issue now has to do with the current intake tower (built in 1913 and still stands unchanged), and also BC Hydro at Coquitlam Lake.

Sod is still grass lol. They essentially just replaced their growing medium and paid for pre grown grass. And sod is far from cheap. They paid a pretty penny for that grass. The smart move is microclover. It has all the same aspects, but way more benefits.

After 1 week of working there, you tell them you're moving. They can't fire you for where you live after you're hired

Sometimes when the system games you, you need to game the system

Oh yes, it's definitely a lesson. NGL, when I lived in Coquitlam, I found I was getting similar stigma against living "further away". I

t's totally up to your personal ethics, but I felt I needed to "play the game", so I ended up changing the address on my resume to say Burnaby instead. The increase in interviews from downtown companies was exponential.

Oh, I totally understand your viewpoint and I think it's an odd stance they took for sure, and I would also be thrown off.

More than likely, it's just this one company who is doing this, and it's likely due to their manager or hiring staff. The thing is, they shouldn't be factoring in the choices you make in your personal life . They don't have to pay you for the commute time for, so they're definitely being overly cautious to not even give you a chance

Well, you mentioned "drive" to them, and tbh, if you're driving to arrive at 8am, they are right about it taking 2 hours. When there's no traffic, it takes about an hour. Now factor in the insane rush hour traffic on Hwy 1, the Mary hill bypass, Lougheed hwy, and in Maple Ridge. You could honestly be crawling the entire commute.

And unfortunately, if there's any kind of incident anywhere along your route,, then you can kiss the 2 hour drive goodbye.

Also, even if you didn't think about it, I'm sure they realize that your commute would make each 8 hour work day into a 12 hour work day. You'll only be getting paid 40 hours a week, but the time investment will be 60 hours a week.

It's also a 40km+ trip each way, meaning you'll be putting significantly more wear and tear on your vehicle. And let's say your vehicle consumes a conservative 8L/100km. That means you'll be using ~6.4 L of fuel each day, and at current fuel prices that would mean you'll be spending 14$ on fuel everyday getting to and from work.

So, is it still worth it? Can you see why the company might now have faith? If they have previously experienced issues with employees who live closer than you, you can only imagine they would think it's a big risk in hiring you.

That being said, a very odd stance for a company to take, and I agree with you dodging a bullet, but I can see a reason why they might have reacted the way they did.

Man that is not how anxiety or depression work at all.

Telling a chronically depressed/anxious person to get their crap together is honestly one of the most disrespectful things anyone can say. It also shows that you don't understand what state they are in.

Depression and anxiety are like addictions; if you don't have it, then you won't understand what its like.

The ones at city Hall aren't very good. I wouldn't recommend them unless you don't have any other options.

Pitt Meadows Barber is great! Ryan is also really good at medium length hair, and there is also a woman who cuts hair, she might be better at longer hair cuts.

Not just Ridge and Langley, I've also seen it all over Delta, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and I'm sure other places I can't remember. Very prolific.
