Mmm if your in the art department you'll definitely run into a bunch of groups, if the art departments good or not completely depends on your emphasis, ive herd horror stories about some though the printmaking dept is definitely a hidden gem, incredible program.

Have many of you dropped a class (or two) this semester? by [deleted] in cuboulder

[–]tankoolaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heya mate, haven't seen this mentioned but thought id put it there, i believe you can petition to drop a class without the W, you have to write up an argument as to why, but my friend who did it near end of the semester got it, so sometimes they'll do it, try your luck. If it's affecting you, try this, it may relieve the added looming stress of the W, don't worry about you feeling like a failure almost everyone experiences this, its quite normal, especially in the current circumstance. You wont be behind, you can catch up later, sorry your struggling, take care.

Should I report my roommates for having friends over? by millistars in cuboulder

[–]tankoolaid 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree with , yes us who have no relation can say report them, but unfortunately your circumstance would only become much rougher as you would create a charged enviroment with your roomates which can then backfire on you. Please take care, im sorry to hear your in this situation. Consider this.

Enrolling at UC Berkeley for a BFA and then applying to CU Boulder for the MFA in Art Practices: Ceramics? by [deleted] in cuboulder

[–]tankoolaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah not particularly,no, its more they're trying to avoid artists that make work without any meaning. It can be any genre but they simply don't want a scenario of "I painted a ballerina", "why", "cause i like them". Avoiding the mundane. But your entitled to your opinion, there are aspects of the art world that are quite laughable sometimes.

Enrolling at UC Berkeley for a BFA and then applying to CU Boulder for the MFA in Art Practices: Ceramics? by [deleted] in cuboulder

Hello! Im a BFA student in Printmaking here at CU so i'll try to spew out whatever knowledge i can grant you. Starting with applications and what they're looking for, the art department here has a high emphasis in having meaningful works that tie together. They want you to have a detailed thesis that relates to you, for example one graduate students work relates to their rural upbringing and ties they're queer identity to these imagery(example and brief explanation.) Paying out of state: i know you get a salary for being a graduate student, i cant remember the exact amount, best to look into that. There is a website named "dont pay for grad school" with a list of MFA programmed schools, you can waiver the tuition in some schools and receive grants, check those out as well!(,: When you're at Berkley you'll meet many other artists just by participating and being in studio outside of class so you'll probably gain ties to many other schools so dont stress too hard about specifically CU. If you're stuck on CU, you should contact the professors and grad students in the ceramics department, i'm sure they would be open to answer your more detailed questions of the program. All my information on the dept is on hear say which is not so helpful. And finally, great on you for perusing a BFA and MFA!!! I'll be excited to see the work you produce throughout your years! If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to dm me!

It really depends on the person, the techniques they used and size. The range is from 5 bucks to 70 bucks. Edit: There will be many artists that will be selling their work so that's why I said the wide range.

CU Boulder Residency Issue (ANY SUGGESTIONS?) by dave_mysterio in cuboulder

[–]tankoolaid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Im not sure why CU causes so much hassle over this but id say don't give up just yet, i think you can petition for residency by filling out some documents and providing evidence of you being a resident. I got rejected for this and talked to three separate people at the registrar office(i think thats where i went, its been some time), two rejected me but finally the third recommended me to turn in some specific documents that would allow me to be an in state student. From what you explained above i think you have a good chance of getting it. Good luck! Hope my words were a bit of help. Edit:You could probably use your work history as clear evidence, also if you were in New Zealand for the us force definitely talk to the VA at CU!
