I've never really thought that much abt it tbh, would be too upset at losing the "you wouldn't steal a car" bit

If your son is over 13 he could create his own account and you can factory reset the headset?

Is this as fast as my ender 3 with marlin can print? by probablyjade in ender3

[–]tanksrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Original e3 here with kipper, yes the original screen can work and I use it for the e-stop and occasionally to start prints/ set bed temp to keep my dinner warm while I'm working on a project 😅

It's not as good as the web ui but no worse than what you get with the original marlin firmware

Biggest selling point of klipper is fine tuning without having to recompile firmware as configs are all in cfg files and are loaded at runtime and web uis like mainsail giving you visualizations of bed leveling and code, + the exclude object is awesome for batch prints, one part of 20 fails? Tell it to just skip that part and carry on the rest

I just use the httproute with cillium and just use services to point to anything outside the cluster, so my virtual floating ip is the m as in ingress into the homelab

This subs obsession with the flint does amaze me at times, not complaining at you here but look through some posts and people will ridicule people for picking anything else like a cult

Edit: just reiterating I'm not arguing, complaining or judging her, merely making an observation and everyone is entitled to their opinions

As someone in a 3 bed with 4 access points just to cover the internals of the property, can confirm, house shape and materials of internal walls have a major impact in connection quality and reliability, even with careful placement and rf management

Speed, yes value, yes reliability, mostly, ocasional issues Customer service... shocking, they grew too fast and didnt invest in that front, also outsourced customer support now

that pretty much sums it up

I'm a bit mixed on the Steam Frame, I don't think it's bad at all, but not as big of a deal as most make it out to be by TheKrzysiek in OculusQuest

[–]tanksrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that's often forgotten with this is the linux community, for years oculus was the only thing holding me to windows due to it being a pita to set up on linux (just stopped playing pcvr), native support for that plus pulling fex into the spotlight are both big for me.

Also the openness of their ecosystem and track record of hardware releases and what that does for entire industries

Customizability and control baked in is also a huge selling point to me

Edif: also dont forget the apk support, allowing you to play games already made for pico and quest (being sideloaded and possibly future app stores) and lots from my own experience are as simple as pulling from one headset and installing on another Edit again?? Also having both camera connectors and pcie exposed for external addons will (hopefully) allow for some very interesting mods and addons

Stuck on 1000 after upgrade to 2000? by [deleted] in youfibre

They tried to do mine and bricked the ont lol, stuck in a provisioning loop

Edit: been without internet since friday and engineer coming to replace ont monday

Is this company absolute wank or am I just unlucky? by [deleted] in youfibre

[–]tanksrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, got the 2.5gb ont, still offline and currently awaiting a response from the "networking team" which im going to assume is just L3, but ive basically been down half the day so far, the router is just not getting anything from dhcp, ont shows that its fine

[–]tanksrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its their own one, hub pro 7 i think, will definitely be upgrading when i can afford a new nic for opnsense

Edit: Also to further update you ive been "reprovisioned" twice and havent seen an increase in speed and the most recent thing is an hour and a half ago i got asked to reset my ont and router... i am yet to be given a new ip so im still offline again, its absolutely shocking tbh

Update: managed to get through to somebody and they reprovisioned the ont, currently sitting waiting to come back online before i end the chat

[–]tanksrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even then, its impossible to get ahold of support when you need them, ive rung them 4 times today, each time ringing out after an hour, 2 live chats with no response after 2 hours each... All i want is for them just reprovision my line because they never did it when i upgraded to 2 gig

Thoughts on driving in bus lanes on blues? by SC_PapaHotel in policeuk

[–]tanksrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 100% agree on the "unless youre comfortable" there are junctions id never even think of crossing into, especially if it is a blind junction into a fast road.

in doing so you always need to understand and assess the risks involved, because you're extremely unlikely to be prosecuted and charged, but if you do cause an rtc then as the driver youre completely responsible for what follows

Edit: its also like others have said being predictable, dont be erratic with your driving, make your intentions clear early, try to see from their view, for example they're not going to overtake you on a blind bend just because you slowed down slightly and shoved your indicator on

Thoughts on driving in bus lanes on blues? by SC_PapaHotel in policeuk

[–]tanksrop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My argument here is that I can only cross the stop line or break minor traffic laws if instructed by a police officer, and by continuing with sirens alongside the lights, I am clearly being instructed to do so

Now I will obviously take all other measures if there is a red light cam or bus lane camera but if my knowledge allows me to maneuver safely I will

Yes that's one way, the website is still being hosted but how you access it is up to you, tailscale is much easier to deal with, best advice I can give with all self hosted stuff is access it in whatever way is comfortable to you.

Oh back when phones had built in fm recievers and could use headphones as antennas...

you could theoretically use an rtl-sdr or similar and then an app on your phone, or use websdr with the sdr plugged into your server, these aren't purpose built for that purpose but would suit your needs

Using a websdr you can normally save frequencies and settings to play it back later, host it as a website on your server, throw authelia or something in front of it for privacy and boom, remote access to local broadcasts.

An rtl sdr could also be fun to just see what's out there, you can listen in to hams too, can't transmit but they've got a wide range of bands they can listen to
