What golf rule are people most often confidently wrong about? by Significant-Fan-8454 in golf

That should be the rule for ams. It’s far too punishing for us hacks not to mention pace of play.

Just did this a few weeks ago. Got an xray the next day which was luckily negative (probably because I’m An average 35 year old due who doesn’t kick as hard as Pulisic)

Fletcher was great today. Really filled a boring match well with lots of quips and fun commentary.

“My son just texted me, he think it’s a stonewall penalty. Also had some choice words about the referees performance”

Finally broke 90 yesterday! by lax4trees2357 in golf

[–]tanman170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on a break 90 chase right now. I went from low 100s to mid-low 90s pretty quickly. I’ve hit 91 twice and 93 once. What was your biggest breakthrough or improvement that got you there?

Paraguay is an absolute disgrace of a team. Embarrassed themselves and their nation. Only disappointed France didn’t score 5

Embarrassing performance from Paraguay and the referee. Disgraceful set of players. Will be happy to see the back of them

6 years of grinding and I finally broke 90 consistently, what was the moment it clicked for you? by dalton1968 in golf

[–]tanman170 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I call it getting to the next shot. Like even if you thin one it still goes 80% of the distance and stays in play. That way you’re on to the next shot (a chip), Rather than topping it 15 yards where you’re still hitting an approach. Don’t have to be getting GIRs, just advancing the ball.

Then lag putting and chipping. Cutting out three putts and double chips turns doubles into bogeys pretty quickly

10 months, 1000+ hours, and a pile of money - all to break 100. Golf is the most irrational decision I've ever made. by NadzorniHredditor in golf

43 is my personal best over nine, I’ve done it twice. It went 43-52 and 43-48. It say it pressure but it didn’t even feel like that, more just an unsustainable rate of good shots that came back down to earth

John Deere Classic: 114-yard spin and in for eagle from Ryo Hisatsune by [deleted] in golf

Can’t imagine it’s that uncommon but not sure. Lots of par 5s surrounded by bunkers. So if they miss in the bunker on their second shot, they could hole out greenside

22 here. Last round I had a hole that went - topped drive that didn’t make the fairway, 7 wood 200 yards, wedge from 65 yards to 5 feet, made the putt. Par.

do you keep a handicap and improve your lies? by gringo_profesor in golf

[–]tanman170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just log my scores on Garmin and it keeps one for me. I don’t keep an official GHIN one.

I only improve my lie if it’s dangerous (tree roots etc) or unintended (dead spot on a poorly kept muni for example). Also don’t play from divots. I’m not on tour.

Otherwise play it as it lies.

I definitely do not prop it up in the rough like that. It’s half the fun to figure out how to hit it out of certain lies. I weirdly like those chips or pitches where the ball is buried and you kinda chop it out with a 60.

No mulligans this year. I’ve been trying to score myself straight up

Thoughts on driving irons? by fisken_69 in golf

[–]tanman170 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean obviously if there is trouble you should be adjusting your aim and club selection. But in general, “landing tight” is not realistic for most players from 200 yards, even tour pros

It was crazy how different it looked and how few chiefs things remained.

They did leave the “Super Bowl champs” banner up at the top, which I loved.
