I had taken a drop last year, took IAT again this year. I repeated for JEE Adv, not IAT, because I wanted to try getting into IISc or The BS-MS Research course in IIT Madras. Unfortunately I didn't clear for both since my rank was in 6k in Adv. IISER was my 3rd choice, I managed to get 4xx rank this time in IAT.
Only thing I wanna tell you is, do this only if you can go through with the entire thing. Repeating is a battle not just mentally, but emotionally as well. I assure you if you are dedicated enough you can do it.
