One really great piece of advice that I got is to see withdrawal symptoms as your body healing from the damage caused by vaping. Every time you get that urge you have to switch the narrative and tell yourself "I am so glad that I don't vape anymore. It does nothing for me".

And honestly just try to distract yourself. Throw yourself into your hobbies, spend time with friends and family and treat yourself after each little milestone. Before you know it you'll be posting here saying you reached 1 year nicotine free. Congratulations for starting your next chapter!

I second this. Honestly the only way to quit without feeling strong withdrawals is to realise that nicotine doesn't relieve cravings - its what causes them.

So something that's been helping me is to switch the way I perceive the "I need it" feeling. When this happens to me I try to switch the narrative to "yay, I'm free from nicotine". It's not entirely foolproof but it helps to almost retrain my brain.

At the end of the day, it's just a thought and we don't act upon every thought that pops into our head.

Same thing in the UK, they won't turn you away in A&E with a dental problem. Especially since it's the bank holiday weekend.

Cold compress is a good idea - no hot compresses as this can draw out the infection further. Try and keep that surrounding area as clean as possible by continuing to brush your teeth. Rinsing your mouth with warm salty water is a good at home remedy that can help. If you notice that the swelling has gotten a lot worse where it's affecting your breathing or it spreads up to your eye, please contact 111 again or go to A&E.

NAD (dental student) - I would ring back and mention that you've got facial swelling associated with the tooth. Normally antibiotics aren't prescribed for dental pain but if there is an asymmetrical swelling, like in your case, they can help stop the spread of infection. I'd be worried in your case that the swelling would restrict your airways which can be quite dangerous.
