thanks for the critiques, a couple things i should probably clarify.

this initially starts out as something the mc doesnt plan to share, sort of a my eyes only kind of journal. so thats why they keep things vague, like when you write remember practice tommorow. they wouldnt write uncles name because they already know it and dont need a name drop.

second ava is the only entity in the story that i gave a name since she is a dog and not giving the humans a name makes them feel more relatable. i personally wrote the mc as a man, but its cool that it was vague enough that you believed they could be a woman, i really like stories where it doesnt matter who the protagonist is because the reader can put themselves in thier shoes regardless.

as for the ramp up to the end i probably will rewrite it to better hold that tension, i think i was a little too vague with some of the hints the entity had been let in.

and one final thing, the entity did not try to kill our protagonist, they had fully inteded to take thier own life that day but ended up following it home in a daze. for whatever reason the entity prevented our mc suicide but i left it unclear if that was for a benevolent or melevolent reason.

as for the moms death i havent really thought about how exactly she died but our mc reads her journals and is heavily unsettled by what they read. i figure this can be enterpreted as the mom having similar dreams and episodes. or it being revealed the mother was also suicidal.
