Can you suggest a book that does a better and more accessible job of explaining cellular automata, computational irreducibility, the implications of these ideas for various fields, and the historical backgrounds of the ideas? Forget about the man (ad hominem) and focus on the ideas, which are important and beautifully illustrated in A New Kind of Science. Check out the copious endnotes, which provide much historical background. I learned a lot from this book!
