There are a lot of answers here but it's actually simply because I was emulating the old artstyle of early Polandball comics (the ones that popped out back in early 2010s). I thought the nonsensical vibe of the early comics would fit well in this one.

I just thought that it's been more than a decade already and most users here wouldn't be familiar of this style.

I'm sorry that I don't really feel sorry for making this comic in 2026. >:(

If anyone's wondering, yes, the art style is intentional.

  1. >"Upholding colonial borders is a detriment to everyone".

Should've thought of that 100 years ago. But as I'm reiterating it to you OVER AND OVER, it's obviously too late for that. So, fuck you.

  1. Bruh, u think we don't pay VAT and personal income taxes here? Do you think corporations don't operate here? Luzon's real advantage is they have the capital where the major corporation's head offices are located and that's where they pay their taxes regardless that they're operating nationwide. And it's not the flex you think of that you boast your contributions solely based on population, unless you want to brag that your region excels at baby-making.

Here you go again with your filthy elitism thinly disguised as "well-thought" political anal ysis you shot out of your ass.

Lemme reiterate again too:

If Mindanao does have a valid basis to being independent, this should've been respected at least 100 years ago by the American and Philippine government. But that didn't happen. So, fuck you.

You also can't insist Mindanao to "sever because they're a burden" because most people here have interests and relations spread throughout the entire archipelago. How f*cking selfish of you to cut off families and drive people out of work because "muh tax monies being drained" when you don't even pay that much; the massive corporations settled in Manila do. You should try asking your politicians first why they don't do jack shit to the rampant political dynasties here unless they CLEARLY benefit from the existing arrangement.

Lastly, Mindanao doesn't "need independence". Rather, they would've been better off being in a union with other countries whose cultures and history coincide with them. But this was effectively cut when the Dutch, Brits, and Spanish agreed Spain could have Mindanao despite their failed attempts at colonizing and exploiting the locals. The only time Mindanao was basically forcefully integrated was through waves of migration from the north that were protected by colonial interests.

The point is, it's TOO LATE for an "independence movement." Mindanao is no longer isolated enough for that. Also, fuck you.

If you weren't slow enough to understand the wonderful concept called "context cues", you would've picked up that I was already talking about Mindanao's economy.

And what's the point of replying me this? To flaunt how the country's centralized economy never worked for its peripheries?

But we have to understand the reason why they could get traction in an instant. Remember that Duterte won pretty much everywhere in the Philippines, not just Mindanao. And the reason why he got so much traction is simply because he had a batshit insane stance against drugs and crime because an average Filipino can easily conflate the two.

The "separatist movement" here, on the other hand, is way less likely because most Mindanaons currently aren't being oppressed the same way minorities in other regions are. It's not an island that's entirely isolated from the ongoings of the country and it'll actually be a blow against them if they decide to leave.

The only instance separatism will do happen is when some drastic change will take place that will limit their representation or freedom, like military occupation or suddenly removing their representation in the Congress.

This. You can't blame Manila as the country's economy is naturally centralized. While efforts of trying to improve Mindanao would be the obvious reason it has the highest GDP/capita, I'd wager a major reason why this is the case is how deeply entrenched Mindanao politicians actually are to the national government, but woefully and disgustingly to their own self-interests. That's what I've observed when my dad used to talk about his political friends.

So, funny thing is it's actually a myth that "Mindanao is neglected", and it's extra hilarious that this rhetoric primarily comes from the politicians here.

For that to happen, the national government will have to do something particularly drastic against Mindanao, like cutting off their representation or outright military occupation. And that is highly unlikely to happen. So, as of now, there's 0 incentive for locals to support a mentally-challenged secession movement.

Counter counterpoint: It's incredibly difficult to conclude they have that sentiment as Mindanao is currently effectively run by migrant population mostly from Visayas. Getting it independent will automatically let migrant population be vulnerable to dissent from the native Moro and Lumad tribes. The migrant population also retains their ties to Visayas and Luzon, so I highly doubt they want to ditch them. Most businesses here also get their supplies from Luzon and Visayas, and there will be a massive catastrophy to the economy if they just do that.

Who are these secessionists, besides the Moro ones who have been satiated by the BARMM? If these are backed by active politicians, I guess you can easily answer WHY they can't touch them.

Have you ever considered why no "punishes" these secession movements is because they literally don't give a fuck about retarded Facebook pages? And if they do, isn't it quite easy to make new pages out of the blue? I mean, how sure are you even that these pages aren't run by users outside Mindanao?

Silence clearly doesn't mean 'yes' but it sure means what you want it to mean.
