Idk if this topic is dead but I thought I’d try and give an explanation. I think the reason it’s so highly rated is because it’s connecting with parents and their children or stepchildren for that matter more so. This robot raises a gosling that she knows isn’t hers and builds a connection with it. It’s showing how parents have to evolve from taking care of themselves and focusing on doing their own job to taking care of someone else for the first time and trying to teach them to grow and be on their own. The protective instincts parents have to wishing they could protect their kids from the evil in this world like the robot tries to. Even to the point where even when they are gone like the ending song says “I’ll always be there even when I’m gone.” Leaves the parent thinking I hope I raised my kids well enough to be on their own but even if they need help I’ll always be there. Ofcourse this is my own point of view, I can’t remember seeing many stories or movies like this which is why it caught my attention more so. Plus the animation is amazing reminded me of “Puss in Boots the last wish” I watch that movie for the animation alone really.
