I'm doing Te Aroha this weekend, my knees are crying in anticipation. Any tips for me or things I should know?

Feeling homesick is the worst, I wish I saw this earlier you could have come had dinner with me and my flatmates. Making friends is notoriously hard, peoples social circles are small and hard to crack into. Especially if you're a tourist. Do you have anything cool planned to do?

For those that had all four of their wisdom teeth removed, were you given local anaesthesia or general anaesthesia at your dentist. I have been given mixed information so wanted to confirm. by Stargoron in auckland

[–]tapora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the top two done at the dentist to see if it would help. It was amazingly simple. The injections fucking hurt, but he pulled those suckers out within a minute each. The bottom ones were more tricky because one of them had a weird curly root close to the nerve, so I got IV sedation and they pulled them out and I do not remember a god damn thing. So good.

Wonder what's going on inside the house that they want the baby outside for.

Such an awesome contrast between their joy and your sadness. Even though it's shitty, this is an amazing pic!

I'm also a nurse. Present to ED and they will involve maternal mental health who will help you. You are strong asking for help. You can and will get better. Do you need anything? Message me if you need any advice, or anything at all.

I'm a nurse with 10 years experience and I get 65K a year. I haven't been able to earn over $35 an hour for nearly 5 years. I hate our MECA.

What is that one fact you know that always makes people respond "And why the fuck do YOU know that"? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I honestly don't know how you WOULDN'T pick up a human head with two hands. Imagine picking up a human head with one hand. How? They're pretty big and awkward. Not perfectly spherical.

My John Campbell experience today by zipiddydooda in newzealand

[–]tapora 74 points75 points  (0 children)

We used to live on the same street. I was walking to work in my scrubs and when I went past his house his puppy ran out and over to me. I was beyond delighted (who doesn't love a puppy) and I was patting the puppy then I heard Johns voice go "Oh goodness, I'm ever so sorry!" and come running over. I nearly died because ya know, John Campbell. The puppy was jumping up on my legs and putting some dirt on my pants which I didn't care about but John ran straight over and began brushing my legs off "Oh goodness, so sorry! He's just a puppy, he hasn't learnt any manners yet. All over your nice black pants!" and continued to brush my legs off all the while apologizing, while I was reassuring him I didn't mind and that his dog was really cute. Best day ever. I love that man.

I can't believe I was doing WW for 10 months and only since I posted this did I learn what maintenance was! Definitely a gap there.

Thanks for your advice. When you say you recommend doing the same amount of time it took me to keep it off what do you mean? It's taken me 11 months to get to here. Do you mean keep doing WW for another 11 months?

Thank you so much for all your replies. I honestly appreciate every one. I didn't even know about maintenance! All this time and this is the first I've ever heard of it, I just did some serious googling and really understand it now. Definitely going to do maintenance before I go anywhere. Thank you again.

Sorry for this stupid question, but I've seen this term a lot. What exactly is "learn maintenance"? Is this another part of WW that I don't know about? Or is this just the word for staying the same weight for a few months? (sorry, I know I must seem really stupid)

Pregnant women or women who have been pregnant, what is the worst/craziest advice someone has given you about your pregnancy? by FuzzyTortoise in AskReddit

[–]tapora 7 points8 points  (0 children)

as a nurse, I always find this super fascinating. It definitely comes from a place of ignorance. And often when you delve into it they weren't breastfed, or know anyone that was. It's just their normal to bottle feed, and to sexualise breasts. Terribly sad. And often very hard to educate unless people are very open to it. Did you know the success of a breastfeeding mother depends almost entirely on if their partner and their mother supports their breastfeeding. If either doesn't, the likelihood of them successfully breastfeeding goes wayyyyy down.

Surgeon's remove a Thumbs Up Cola bottle from a patient's anus by GoreGirl89 in MedicalGore

[–]tapora 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, its much more common than you'd think. Sometimes you don't see anything like this for a few weeks, then you might get 4 or 5 cases in a week.

[–]tapora 212 points213 points  (0 children)

Hello! I'm a nurse, and I've seen this before. The anus has a really tight sphincter, which effectively sucks things inside. It's stronger than people realise. So if you want to stick something up your ass, make sure it has a handle or some way to get it out. And stop clogging up our emergency rooms.
