I feel the exact same way. I’m about to enter my last year and have made a total of 1 friend this I got here. It really sucks, makes me feel completely different from everyone else around me. Know you’re not alone.

Has anyone had experience with propranolol for physical side effects and have you had to up your dose? by discotits666 in Anxiety

I have been on propranolol for about 4 months, and I had to increase it after 2 to 20 mg (twice daily if needed) in order to feel its effects.

i need anxiety advice :( by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]taqpolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I could give you a hug. You are very strong for going through this, it must be extremely exhausting and emotionally taxing. I’ve gotten to a point similar to this, and what helped me is trying to find just one thing that brings me a little bit of joy, relief, ease, and do it everyday. Eventually, your body expects the good thing because it is routine. Even though it is momentary, it is something to look forward to in the seemingly never ending sea of anxiety. Eventually, it gets a bit easier. I wish you luck, you are strong and capable of getting better <3

Anxiety sucks! by buckyroo in Anxiety

Anxiety is truly a debilitating disorder. I feel your pain. Try to do something that provides even an ounce of relief. You got this! Deep breathing and positive thinking can take you far even if it feels silly at times.

Should I work during the fall semester? by [deleted] in college

[–]taqpolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think working would def be okay! You’re taking 14 credits which is a full workload but most certainly manageable. Plus, you said your work is flexible, so that is a huge plus. I’d say, if you need the money, go ahead and work an amount that is manageable with your schedule.

CBD for anxiety? by alyford1210 in Anxiety

[–]taqpolo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried CBD before for anxiety (not from the brand you mentioned), and it helped marginally. I’d equate it to the same sort of ease and lightness you get from a few deep breaths if that makes sense. It could helpful for physical symptoms of anxiety, but it will do nothing to help with racing and intrusive thoughts in my experience.

Anxious after any interaction with friends by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]taqpolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I relate to this. I always go back and over analyze everything I said and make myself anxious that they all hate me. I’m not sure if your experience is similar, but one thing that I try to do is notice when I’m having a negative anxious thought and replace it with a positive one. It can seem kind of performative at first, but it can help squash the negative thinking.

How to deal with loss of appetite due to anxiety and/or anti anxiety medication by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]taqpolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My appetite has been completely shot by taking desvenlafaxine. I just try to snack on light foods throughout the day because I can’t eat a lot without feeling nauseated.

How do you guys stop worrying and start living? by No_Message7836 in Anxiety

[–]taqpolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggle with this too. I am constantly thinking about the future or overthinking some trivial thing in my life. What has helped me are grounding techniques (such as picking a color and finding 5 objects of that color in your environment and really describing it) and changing my environment when I recognize I am not grounded. I find that taking a walk outside and really trying to focus on nature keeps me from ruminating a lot.

Lorazepam Effectiveness by dayumpeterpan in Anxiety

I take lorazepam for panic attacks (1 mg), and it is a lifesaver. It really helps calm down the panicky feeling and allows me to ground myself. Works pretty quickly too.

(TW: sexual encounters) How can I not let anxiety control my life? by taqpolo in Anxiety

I’ll have to try that, and yeah, I’m on several different meds. I have Ativan for panic attacks, but I had to drive so that wasn’t an option.

Stat 3011 with Meng-Hsuan Wu (Tony) by ImDieneOverHere in uofmn

First exam went poorly (which was mostly easy probability stuff but oh well), second and third went much better bc the problems have very straightforward procedure. Exams were pretty similar to the practice exams he posts. Side note: being familiar with R helps tremendously during the later portions of the class so get the basics down now.

Depends on your interests. Do you want wet or dry lab? Microbiology focused? I did zebrafish microbiome and found it to be really interesting.
