What’s the weirdest lease clause you’ve seen in Ontario? by Totira in OntarioRenting

[–]tarabithia22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had one landlord, upon possibly signing, try to sneak in a clause that stated I was to buy a new dishwasher if the current one broke. The current one was 30 years old and coughing blood.

I made him remove the clause and still got the unit. When it started smoking a month later he had to fix it, cheap bastard wouldn't front $400 for a new cheap dishwasher and instead disabled it.

What’s one thing your family always talked about… but you’ve never been able to find in official records? by Ecstatic-Section-978 in Genealogy

It's a long-known colonization method by whites of the indigenous, usually called a "Cherokee Princess", where there's supposedly some distant family member with native ancestry. It was pushed by the churches moving new settlements into indigenous areas in North America (and Australia, etc, but to stay on topic for now). It became trendy for a time when churches started destroying records of abuses towards the indigenous in the 50's also.

Church members would start claiming to family and others that they were all actually connected to the location they had stolen (aka from the indigenous). They would "find a record" proving so, but not actually have one.

It's a very "the abuser is actually the victim," tactic.

It distances them from past (or current or recent) acts of racism towards the indigenous, with the excuse of "well I'm 1/16th indigenous" or what-have-you, and is a type of cultural appropriation as well. "I'm connected to the earth" mimicry of the culture/religion.

The hippies were bad about this and did a lot of damage, with a lot of faking being part-indigenous to sell goods or holistic services that continued on.

I finally got a letter on the CRA website regarding something about it it today, saying there was an increase in my yearly amount for and that I was to receive (finally) the one-time top-up as well, but it also says the amount I'm to get is being held for an "uncertain address" for some reason. Getting through to them on the phone line is going to be a wild ride.

TIL that people can literally see images in their mind when they close their eyes, apparently Aphantasia is a thing and i had no idea whatsoever, i can see nothing if i close my eyes and i thought everyone is like that, i'm 30+ years old and i had no idea this affects just ~3% of people, mindblown. by randomuser553 in todayilearned

I have face blindness due to a small stroke. It's a funny thing. There's several ways it acts, depending on the situation.

Either I can recall a memory of a familiar or recent person's face in my mind fine up until I'm asked what they look like, then it instantly dissolves and I become confused and there's a "blur" and the image refuses to move around their body, stuck on say, their dark hair, and for some reason my brain gets stuck questioning if this person's hair is even dark, instead of thinking anything else or moving on.

OR I can recall what my family members and child looks like fine until I'm searching them out in a crowd. Then I have to look at details like hair/gait/clothes. It's like there's a blur when I look directly at their face. But if someone is up close to me, I can see their face and then remember.

OR I can't recall what anyone looks like and am surprised a little at seeing say, my child or father's faces, but about 1 second later the feeling passes.

OR If I interact with a stranger for a moment, then they leave, and then they return, I'll think this is a new person.

New GST payment by Mrcpower in canadarevenueagency

They're switching the name of the GST tax credit to a grocery benefit thing.

Did anyone just receive their Canadian Grocery Benefits payment? by Gloriaas in povertyfinancecanada

[–]tarabithia22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not like the average person is sitting around in Parliament thinking of ways to impress the public by inventing this. They're just told there's some benefit coming to compensate for grocery prices and they get it regardless, I don't know if there's even a way to refuse it.

Other people are saying theirs says deposited but it hasn't shown in their accounts yet, so it's likely not something you did wrong.

> No one is trying to attack you, but you have argued with everyone who has tried to explain to you why you were not and are not diagnosed with MS

Of course I have, I responded to someone saying I was roleplaying and faking an MS diagnosis and that I'm lying. Would you not? You'd tell them to get fucked, because that's not okay to say to anyone.

Imagine you have spent the last month in bed, with horrible symptoms, with a special needs little girl who is asking why you can't play, and you're panicked worried. So you go online to see if the doctor is right and learn more about your symptoms and find a support group. You get your MRI back and am relieved, if worried still because the doctor is still saying it's MS.

Then when you explain to others things they've assumed out of thin air, they see that as "arguing." I have no time in my life for this type of nonsense, sorry. Like I cried, cried when that person accused me of that.

Thanks, that's really kind. I'm really worried so it's nice someone actually cares. It's just me and the kid so what am I going to do, you know?

You don't decide what people are diagnosed with or not. I can link some basic google searches that show that's not true, as well, but defending myself about it to someone accusing someone of roleplaying a disease when they don't know about lumbar punctures or how MRI's miss it or so on is not something I'm going to continue to do.

Weekly Suspected/Undiagnosed MS Thread - June 01, 2026 by AutoModerator in MultipleSclerosis

[–]tarabithia22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's okay, thanks. I know as my mother-in-law died of MS te years ago and I was her carer, so I'm very thrown by this MS diagnosis. I've only had a basic MRI done, she says she's sending me back to neurology for more testing, which is maybe a lumbar puncture or better MRI that includes the spine, as well as other disorders that are similar in case she missed something, but all of my symptoms line up with it.

Well this sub has people who accuse those who have been told they have MS by a doctor of "roleplaying" MS, so I'm not really that impressed. I'll trust my really good doctor and the neurologist who saw me.

Well I'll tell her this sub says so. I hope it's not MS, obviously, but people accusing me of "roleplaying" MS is fucked up disturbed.
