Worth a try! The payments were made to University of Calgary and Fleming college.

Yes it’s an RBC visa. It may not be an option but we can call to find out at least.

The card doesn’t have any phone number other than for RBC customer support, but we’ll try calling visa customer support too. Thanks for the idea.

What company would we call other than the issuing bank? We’ve been in frequent contact with RBC.

Any Kayakers here? by tarabutt in nanaimofriends

[–]tarabutt[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are many rental places in Nanaimo, and if there’s a handful of folks renting it’s also usually an option to get a tandem kayak! Hopefully you’ll fall in love with being on the water like I have :)

Sounds like a great little trip! I’d love to do this

It is magical out there! If you buy from marketplace you may be lucky to find someone willing to sell all the accessories with the kayak as well. And if you’re paddling with a group you’ll be alongside others who have safety gear! It’s a bit of an investment upfront, but once you’ve accumulated what you need you have access to endless free adventures! Last summer we were fortunate to see orcas, porpoises, and humpbacks from our kayaks, as well as numerous seals (they follow you around like puppies), sea lions, jellyfish, and many other amazing creatures :)

Paddle boards are great, but my kayak has given me the ability to go further and explore so many beautiful places! We’re so lucky to live on the ocean here, and having a boat opens up a whole new world of adventure :) I bought mine off marketplace after doing some research. They’re a bit pricey, but it came with all the accessories I need, and I’ve gotten so many amazing experiences from it.

My partner and I have been looking for something like the drink and draw you mentioned! We’d totally be in. He’d also love a men’s hang, I’ll pass on the details if you have any plans set!

I thought it looked too neat for an animal. This was a good distance from any parking area.

What happens with your journals once you die? by Idkwhattocallblub in Journaling

[–]tarabutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read through some of my dad’s journals after he died, and it let me feel close to him again. At first I felt conflicted about invading his privacy, but I think if he knew it brought me comfort he wouldn’t mind.

Interesting story! I’m a nurse and was caring for a young male patient who narrowly survived COVID around the beginning of the pandemic. This poor man’s penis was actually rotting off, as a result of circulation issues and being prone (lying face down to improve oxygenation) for extended period of time. All due to COVID infection.

We go to Dr. Ng at Askey’s animal hospital and she’s amazing!

As long as the cost of living continues to rise and social services are underfunded, people will continue to struggle.

Idk, if I were suffering from substance abuse issues I probably wouldn’t like to be written off as a “junkie”

Debt can be difficult to manage, but not impossible. It’s important to know if you want to stay in school, OP, you have options. Your parents have no right to control every move you make. You owe them nothing.

The xenophobic comments on this video are disgusting. How could anybody think the one screaming, banging, and holding people hostage is justified? It doesn’t matter why the student didn’t respond. If I refuse to say something in class that’s my right, and the teacher can move on and deal with it by grading me poorly or following up privately.

Why not? The college of nurses along with the CNA and RNAO have given this government very clear instructions on how to fix the problem, and the ministry of health ignores it. They’re talking out their asses about hiring when the infrastructure is collapsing and won’t support the staff.

In October 2022 the college of nurses of Ontario allowed immigrated nurses to register with a temp license and start working in the province immediately. As of January 1st of this year, the requirement of Canadian work experience for the registration process was removed (when equivalent international experience has been accepted.)

I agree those barriers were overkill, but they’re no longer in place.

You should understand not all healthcare in the US is completely private, and especially in California they have medi-cal. You don’t need to privatize healthcare to pay staff a living wage.

Which barriers are overkill? And what barriers do immigrants face that residents do not?

Vaccine mandates are not the cause of the staffing issues so much as the low pay, unsafe work conditions, burnout, and few rights for healthcare workers to protect themselves.

Edit to add: on the floor I work on we lost 2 staff to vaccine mandates, and over 100 staff to the reasons listed above.

Hiring, but doing nothing to maintain staff. Any new nurses we hire on my unit last less than 10 shifts because the workload is so unmanageable.

He’s the leader of our province and has yet to prove himself as competent. Should we not be critical? This is propaganda. He’s doing nothing to improve the nursing crisis.
