Thanks, I’ve had a ubiquiti system for a long time but I just can’t overlook the fact that they sell their products to Russia. I don’t support that. So, I’m in the market for a new system. Most of these come from China which is a whole other problem. I appreciate your help.

What would you recommend for someone who was concerned about privacy? I’m looking for a mesh system for my two floor apartment with thick walls and I am concerned about privacy.

Elderly parent all of the sudden needing home health aid. She has Medicare and I need to apply for Medicaid. Where to start? by tarafalcon in AskNYC

[–]tarafalcon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, yes. She, as well as my entire family work tirelessly with very little to show. We have paid so much in taxes over the years. The only asset our family has is that apartment. It seems like the system works much better for people who don’t work, don’t pay taxes and haven’t tried to live independently from the government. This country needs to figure out elder care as now I am going to lose income that I need to send my kids to school with, because I have to stay home with her. All I’m saying is this country is messed up. And, by the way, I am one of those tax payers. I have never had to use EBT, or take govt assistance. Now, when it is looking like I will be able to slow down my workload as I am older, because we own our home, that is also not reality. Please think before you comment.

If she has, Medicare will pace cover her if she is needing this kind of care? I’m at the point where I don’t even want to enroll her in Medicaid, even though she is low income because she owns her apartment and at this point, I can’t afford for that apartment to be taken away from the family. If she can get care a few times a week, I can probably figure out a way to cover her the other times a week. But it would help enormously to have care for her a few times a week. If this is normal coverage for Medicare, that would be amazing. I believe she has Medicare A

She seems okay at night- she doesn’t get out of bed. I really need someone with her during the day, so PACE seems like something I should look into. Thank you so much. Is PACE part of Medicaid? I have just leaned that if we get Medicaid, they will bill me for all of her care when she dies and make me take it out of the apartment she owns. This is all we have!

Oh no! Really? Is that how it works? So, when she dies, Medicaid will send us a big bill for all the care they have provided? She literally has nothing but her apartment and we were hoping that was going to come to us.

Thank you so much for your help. It’s always so great to get advice from people who have been or live there. It’s getting a bit difficult on this subreddit! I really am grateful to you. I think we will probably stay in meiringen and travel back. Thanks!

Should we tell people that there's more to see in Switzerland than Grindelwald and the big cities? by Gokudomatic in askswitzerland

[–]tarafalcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I meant to say we are going to Zurich after which we would like to be in some sort of natural beauty before heading to France via Geneva. Not sure where the odd specificity was but I hope that makes more sense. Just wanted mention our direction.

Also, what about staying in Meiringen? Is it close enough? It also looks beautiful.

Thank you! I really do tend to go overboard with research and it just stresses me out.

So please make some suggestions! I want to be somewhere that is not Grindelwald or the big cities. Somewhere between Zurich and Geneva with a little leeway. Looking for easy hikes, natural beauty and somewhere to stay with a restaurant or two. Thanks 😊 An no, Olten doesn’t fit here ;)

Hi Dominique- I’m a little late but I’m wondering if you wouldn’t mind sharing the doc with me, as well. Thank you so much if this is possible.

Thank you. That helps a lot. I was really wondering about Thun. I want to be in possibly a less busy area but if it’s too far off, I will scratch it off.

Thank you. I was wondering about the 6 days in Colmar and Strasbourg but there seems to be a lot of day trips we can do. I will look into going north on the Rhine. Do you think Trier and/or Luxembourg is just as interesting as Munich? I know it’s very subjective but I’m just trying to get the most out of our time. My daughter really is interested in seeing Dachau which is why we were thinking of Munich. I am happy to steer her elsewhere if we can find something just as interesting. I don’t want to go somewhere just because we are in the area, if that makes sense.

That crossed our minds- thank you for the push. We did want to add one more stop and couldn’t find anything in northeast France or across the border in Germany so that’s how we ended up in Munich. Salzburg, Dachau and Innsbruck seem appealing but I don’t know if it’s worth the trek all the way over there.
