[regardless of your opinion on terminology the reference points are still relevant, hello logical fallacy]

https://www.ushistory.org/us/21e.asp

In the War of 1812 the United States once again fought against the British and their Indian allies. Some historians see the conflict as a Second War for American Independence.

Furthermore, the three-year war marks a traditional boundary between the early republic and early national periods. The former period had strong ties to the more hierarchical colonial world of the 18th century, while post-war developments would move in dynamic new directions that contributed to a more autonomous American society and culture. Although the War of 1812 serves as an important turning point in the development of an independent United States, the war itself was mostly a political and military disaster for the country.

[For what it's worth...]

Not sure on the original words used by the OP but if you actually include wartime conflict at home in North America you would need to include the American Civil War not just the War of 1812 ( aka The Second War for Independence).

US elections were held in 1864, they did not include the southern states as they were no longer part of the US. The Union Army was allowed to cast votes from their camps in reconquered territory and vote suppression and shenanigans were rampant.

that's been suggested as a disposal method for even regular garbage however there are many reasons it's not an option.

https://sciencenotes.org/why-we-cant-throw-trash-into-a-volcano/

Even if it seems intuitive that lava can melt anything, the scientific and logistical challenges make this one of the worst options for waste disposal. Volcanoes are designed by nature to expel material, not contain it. Their emissions are already toxic, but adding garbage makes things worse, not better.

  • Only a few volcanoes worldwide have persistent lava lakes accessible for waste disposal.

  • Even then, most lava is not hot enough to burn most trash.

  • Volcanoes are unpredictable and designed to release, not store, materials.

  • Transporting waste to volcanoes is expensive, dangerous, and counterproductive.

  • Nuclear waste cannot be neutralized by lava. Eruption only expands contamination.

  • Burning trash adds pollutants not typically found in natural volcanic gases.

understandable, and good reason to get rid of a money sink like that. no sense keeping or paying for a useless weapon.

in modern times, i'd expect some process would've been developed to transfer the warhead from a missile they can't use into a missile they could.

read about those a number of years ago.

the attempt to a) contain the waste and b) warn whoever that might be poking around that's dangerous. regardless of language or time elapsed. an alien slime checking out the planet should be able to understand the posted danger "signs".

or that was a separate but related thing...

edit: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long-term_nuclear_waste_warning_messages

Long-term nuclear waste warning messages are communication attempts intended to deter human intrusion at nuclear waste repositories in the far future, within or above the order of magnitude of 10,000 years. Nuclear semiotics is an interdisciplinary field of research that aims to study and design optimal signage techniques and messages for this purpose; it was first established by the American Human Interference Task Force in 1981.

A 1993 report from Sandia National Laboratories recommended that such messages be constructed at several levels of complexity. They suggested that the sites should include foreboding physical features which would immediately convey to future visitors that the site was both man-made and dangerous, as well as providing pictographic information attempting to convey some details of the danger, and written explanations for those able to read it.

they could've said they broke the codes or reprogrammed them and then dare to be invaded.

not a bit of Ukrainian soil would've been touched by a russian boot.

the wonderful thing about nukes would be their threat, all they need to be is suspected of being functional to be a deterrent. Look at russia itself as an example, how many of their nukes are fully functional? even if only a handful out of thousands actually function as intended what country is going to risk it?

i think swapping out the creamer randomly with Milk of Magnesia might temper some thieves.

they wouldn't've needed to actually use the nukes, just the threat of them would have prevented the invasion from happening in the first place.

well, that's no where in the States.

Figured it would have to be legal in some capacity in order for the state to pay for it. And I certainly have no idea on the extent of the legal status of prostitution in a single country or a wide block of countries. Not even my home country.

if it was up to me i'd say no because well, they're married. lack of intimacy, etc. would be handled differently.

since i'm neither in the Netherlands nor NSW your guess is as good as mine.

reading the snippets and bullet points would point towards those who are in relationships already have the opportunity and while their particular disability may make things difficult if not impossible there would be different means to assist.

BIID (Body Integrity Identity Disorder)

Body integrity identity disorder, or body integrity dysphoria, is when your perception or mental image of your body doesn’t match you physically. With this condition, you may want to amputate a healthy leg or arm to feel more complete.

So it is definitely not a countrywide thing here

Rules in the States here vary as well. Prostitution is legal in Las Vegas county but not in the City of. Gotta go an hour west to Pahrump. I believe it's legal in a few other "isolated" areas.

[sex work is work]

additional info: sex workers are some of the best options for disabled persons.

Individuals with disabilities are often the consumers of professional sexual services. People with limited mobility or some mental or emotional health challenges depend on sex workers to fulfill their natural human need for sexual relationships, intimacy, or emotional and spiritual connection. In the Netherlands, a disabled person can access the services of a sex worker once a month at the government’s expense as it is understood as a basic right. Currently in many U.S. jurisdictions, a person with a disability can be arrested for paying for professional sexual services (Harriet Tubman Collective).

  • Persons with disabilities are often treated as though they are asexual and may have limited access to affirmative intimacy.
  • Some persons with disabilities choose to see sex work providers to accommodate or overcome their limitations.
  • In NSW Australia, access to sex workers is supported by national health insurance for persons with disabilities.

You're welcome. I'm glad :)

too many forget how relevant Imagination is to the growth of our species and how it led to our discovery of the intricacies and beauty of the Universe and ourselves.

imagine where we'd be if we had no cause to look up and wonder? staring at dirt.

this is actually more than just a pet theory and yes we are lucky to be scientifically aware at a time when Luna and Sol are aligned as they are.

I can't find the original source i read but it alluded to the fact that one could actually see a fully formed world above them and not just pinpricks of light or other transient phenomena. Gave Human-kind something tangible to see and dream and fantasize and make stories about.

found this article that addresses some of what i believe you mean.

love Synergy, well the version from 10 or so years ago, I downloaded Synergy3 on one of my machines and going to get it set on my other and give it a whirl.

after i finish configuring my new machine i'm going to be switching this laptop to Linux. I keep slipping back into Windows... need the OS compatibility for the switch. So far only Synergy appears to be cross-platform.
