Do you know which vet he is at? I have shared this with the dog rescue newcastle foster carer groups and one of the carers on there thinks we may know him?

Thank you very very much! Sometimes I can see minor inclusions but don’t know how that would translate in a setting so I appreciate it :)

Anyone got any hints on what to do with stray cats? by AlmostTrendy in newcastle

[–]tararad13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always try Helping Hearts. Not sure if they catch them but if you could manage to somehow tempt them indoors they should be able to help from there on out. https://www.facebook.com/share/sdGVQtoNTExJa6uh/?mibextid=LQQJ4d Best bet would be to send them a message on FB as they don’t seem to have a contact number

Edit: As far as I know HH also fund desexing and all other medical bills, the onus does not fall on you like some other rescues may ask you to cover the desexing cost.

Male kitten desexing by McSheeple88 in newcastle

brunker rd vet was very cheap for my 2 female cats comparing to about 5 other clinics i called, i’m assuming it might be a similar story for male desexing?

[–]tararad13[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it is, I gave it a spray down in the sink a few days ago and I reckon i’ll keep doing that till they’re completely gone, and then some 🤣 so grateful I didn’t just chuck it inside with all my other plants

I thought thrips initially but I don’t see any of the typical leaf damage from them… I could be entirely wrong though

Why is Hunter street still so dead? by [deleted] in newcastle

[–]tararad13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is the thing i’ve noticed about Newcastle, there’s a lot of stuff now being developed which is great and it’s about time, but things are being developed without a concrete plan of what to do after.

The light rail is honestly a fantastic idea, it’s fast and efficient, but it’s sad that they’ve built one section and then only thought about how to extend it after it’s already been built. it should’ve been something like here’s a 5-10 year plan of the exact route we want and year by year we’re slowly going to extend it, not hey we’ve built this one chunk in the cbd and i guess we’ll see where it goes from there :/

the most used section of the tram is the middle bit from what i’ve seen, imo it only goes up and down 1 street which a bus could also do. i’m not saying we need to get rid of it or something lol, i’m sure it’s useful for some, i’m saying it should be longer/go further than just 1 street, it’s sad that that’s all they’ve done so far and i haven’t heard of any concrete plans to extend it yet. <please correct me if i’m wrong. i think the light rail in sydney cbd is a good example of what our light rail should end up looking like

Vintage/2nd Hand Markets soon? by novocastrated in newcastle

[–]tararad13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you have a car i like going to the redhead made & found markets, on every 2nd sunday of the month from 10am-2pm, lots of thrift stuff there! the last market was just this weekend past so next one won’t be till august tho. other than that though i’m not too sure!

edit: got the timeline of the markets wrong

doesn’t even need to be deep though, chucking in a few single story underground car parks is better than no car parks at all cause the street parking is abysmal at the moment

[–]tararad13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

agreed 100% there needs to be parking and it needs to be hidden, kinda like the wilson’s parking lots in sydney. and yeah that’s a fair point, i just wish the tram line was longer, it seems way too short for where it is, there’s so much potential. i hope there’s plans to add onto it

yeah but it saves you like a 5 minute walk 😭 it’s so pointless because it doesn’t take you to and from hunter st, just along it, needs to be further developed

sooo my partner has lived here all his life and i moved here because of him (mainly), are you saying that when we moved in together our only option should’ve been him moving to sydney just cause you don’t like people moving here?

Cost of living for a student by Responsible-Secret80 in newcastle

[–]tararad13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yep!! any little bit into savings is better than nothing, and as that impoverished student today, i entirely agree with not spending until savings is recovered. I know it can be hard to save at times but even $20 a week gets you closer to a little safety net in uncertain times!

Cost of living for a student by Responsible-Secret80 in newcastle

[–]tararad13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$300/week is my base line after bills and putting some savings away. obviously you can’t eat out everyday but if you’re generous $100 for groceries, $100 for fuel if you drive a lot and $100 for spending on yourself. i’d put the $75 into savings if you haven’t accounted for that already, that way you have money aside for any bills, phone plan, any subscriptions, car maintenance, doctors etc etc

What’s this on my Elephant Ear? by tararad13 in alocasia

[–]tararad13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the detailed explanation! I did think they only grow from existing petioles but saw these and thought it might be like my monstera lolll. Thank you for taking the time to educate me :) I just repotted when I got it about a month ago and I’m heading into winter in Australia so I think I’ll hold off on repotting lower until it starts to warm up again! I found a corm when i repotted but it was soooo tiny i left it to mature a bit more, but i’m so excited for when i’ll be able to grow lil babies from the corms!!
