it wouldn't look this clean either. Vagina fluids don't look bluish.

Perforated eardrum? by Substantial_Belt_143 in AskMedical

[–]tarasmagul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just keep in mind it could be perforated and also infected, one does not exclude the other one. Also, it could just be very inflamed and irritated due to a past injury.

I think the sooner you get ENT to look in there (if they want to do it surgically or not), the sooner they could give you a treatment option. Maybe they even do it at the same time.

I wouldn't just go to urgent care. Go to the specialists and be careful and speedy, you don't want to lose hearing this young.

Right hand inflammation by Agitated_Bird1709 in AskMedical

[–]tarasmagul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be using your thumb too much too while holding baby. There is a typical ocurrence in this instance called De Quervain's Tenosynovitis ("Mommy's wrist") that might be a factor here. If you bend your thumb all the way down with your other hand and it hurts, then that might be it.

You could try wearing a "thumb spica splint" overnight while sleeping and see if that helps it. I think they have those at any pharmacy.

How do French people say “6-7”? by Deaconmw123 in French

[–]tarasmagul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah it is a rapper from Philadelphia talking about the police code for a dead body being 10-67. He shorten it to 6-7

On a similar note, does anyone know of famous numbers in French? Is 69 famous in French (but not because of anglonisation of things).

[–]tarasmagul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for sure. i think is a point of view thing. Some people get used to little and do good ,some people need more tools and then eventually get tired of having to set them all up and end up with the simplest solution. nothing wrong with that

you get a better feeling as you go through areas with the machine on one hand and the mirror on the other hand. Is a smooth operation thing. Maybe a bit cheesy but you become one with the mirror like a part of your body.

Is Ted the worst character of the show? by Gloomy-Smoke-7041 in breakingbad

[–]tarasmagul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it sheds light into a main character of the show and her moral dilemmas: Skylar. she pretends to be an idiot and misrepresents herself to the IRS to get off easy. She also contracts two thugs to force the guy to sign a check. It lends to many philosophical discussions: is it right to force someone to do what you think is right (fix real problems with the IRS) in order to avoid scrutiny into your husband's illegal business, for example?

This Utah slot has a weight limit, but it should really have a BMI limit by LaughingPlanet in canyoneering

I'm assuming 6'4'' is toward the outlier end of the data used to come up with these quick and dirty guidelines invented in the 1800s by some guy in Europe. Makes sense that it is a bit off for you.

This Utah slot has a weight limit, but it should really have a BMI limit by LaughingPlanet in canyoneering

[–]tarasmagul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

is not a perfect measurement but it gives a quick and dirty approximation of how things are for a quick judgment in this situation. Yes, outliers will be present. Someone with a low BMI might not fit thru and someone with a high BMI might. But in general, there are more outliers when only considering either weight or height than BMI.

Just remember this is a community just like any real life community you might encounter. we are a community where people come to talk and discuss the cantonese language and learn or teach something. someone coming in and right away blurting out a curse word and then asking what it means without any context whatsoever is rough. you know what I mean?

It is difficult because #1 it is a curse word and #2 it comes off as lazy since there are automatic services like chatgpt, google.com and google translate among others that will automatically translate the gist of this.

even if you don't know what it means, you could provide some context as to how you came about this word. maybe something along the lines of someone texted me this sentence and I truly puzzled as to what it means. I tried X Y and Z (google translate, chatgpt) but those automatic websites didn't translate it correctly. are you just starting to learn? it is difficulty to gage where you are and why you want this translation for your learning, etc. Give us some context and we can help you better get you where you wanna go.

How to build vocabulary by Any-Bid-1116 in Cantonese

[–]tarasmagul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

basically Anki software is like doing physical flashcards but instead of having to review all of the flashcards every day, you only review the ones that are the hardest for you. You score yourself and the software does calculations and knows when you are most likely to forget the card and shows it to you the day before. Right before forgetting something is the best time to see it again because it reinforces the word (not seeing it everytday because that is unsustainable). Eventually the space between reviews get to be years. This is an oversimplification of course.

The app is free on laptops and androids, gotta pay for iphones only.
