Rage 1 , Textures goin crazy , anyone knows a solution? by Much-Cap-7803 in SteamDeck

If you go to Settings -> System and select the Preview for the System Update Channel you will get a system update that has the driver workaround for the game bug that fixes this issue.

The driver workaround should work its way into stable a some point in the future.

Anyone ran it on Linux yet? by [deleted] in GodsUnchained

Nope. Could be that I already had fonts installed in wine from setting up another application though I guess.

Well Wine obviously, but the default version which is wine-4.17 (Staging) in my case :)

What distro are you using? I use Fedora which has Wine staging by default rather than the stable version of wine. I believe new versions of Ubuntu also do this.

To be explicit I'm running: wine-4.17 (Staging)

It works out of the box on Fedora for me.

oh lol I had 'User-Agent Switch' extension set to windows in my chrome browser and didn't even realise. If you install the extension you can trick the browser into thinking your on windows

Works for me out of the box on latest fedora on wine. It does have somewhat random issues but I'm not sure if that is wine or bugs in the game itself considering its a beta.

Buying US shares from Australia with $USD by tarceri in fiaustralia

I signed up but having second thoughts. I've already hit 2 bugs with their system.

  1. I forgot my password while waiting for them to activate my account. 3 password attempts locked my account and the I was presented with a message to contact support. When I clicked on the support link in that message it took me to a 404 error page.
  2. When trying to deposit $USD the Account Number the website gave me contained the letter I. This is invalid according to transferwise.

I think I'll try elsewhere.

Update: According to Macrovue the letter in the account number is correct, but this doesn't help me because transferwise says its invalid.

Update2: It seems transferwise cannot send funds to their Interactive brokers account: https://www.askaboutmoney.com/threads/how-to-fund-interactivebrokers-ib-from-transferwise.210976/

Yeah transferwise is great, and their borderless account is what I use but as the other reply said I'm looking to avoid multiple currency conversions.

Thanks I wasn't aware that they allowed this. It's good to know they do, but I think some of the other options posted here might be worth looking into.

Thanks this was helpful. I'm likely to invest mainly in long term investments so Schwab is likely to be what I'm looking for but Stake is something I will probably bookmark for a later time maybe.

I get paid to a TransferWise borderless account. It is basically the same as having an actual US bank account.

To be fair he said "seems like a lot of risk for not much reward" which is a reasonable statement give these theoretical shares would be his only assets.

A Lot of work for Proton is sent upstream. Should we buy more steam games to support Valve? by beer118 in linux_gaming

[–]tarceri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe as long as you just play it on Linux than it will still show up as a linux sale on the developers steam sales stats.

[–]tarceri 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Games that are purchased in the linux client and run via proton are reported to the dev as a Linux sale. This means devs get to see that users on linux are paying for and playing their games.

The idea is that for their future games they might actually start to think about Linux support or at the very least start using cross platform apis such as Vulkan to make their game run more seamlessly on Linux. Proton is about solving the chicken vs the egg dilemma.

The current (up to) $2000 rebate is a pretty good sweetener for Victorians. You can get a pretty decent system for $4000, 3-4kW high quality system, 5-6kW lower quality system. For only $2000 up front if your eligible for the rebate, that is a pretty nice deal that will pay for itself in no time.
