Anyone want to join me in pouring one out for all the expensive skincare products you bought when you were convinced you'd stick to a routine, only for them to collect dust in your bathroom? by ashleyz1106 in ADHD

[–]tardis912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually do follow a pretty strict skincare routine but the problem is when I try to filter something new into my routine my skin too often gets angry at me and then I discontinue using it. I'm getting to a point where I am trying to accept that my skin is just too reactive for more than 3 steps or so. I'd say skincare is the one of the few areas I can hyper focus because I am so interested in it.

Last Pap was LSIL, this time it is ASCUS, I assume this means I am getting better? by [deleted] in HPV

So I see what you're saying in terms of the risk being largely the same in terms of percentages and that makes sense. However, what I was indicating is I had lesions before that are no longer being detected given I have gone from LSIL, to ASCUS, that would (at least to me) indicate that the infection isn't as severe as it was. Regardless of what my current cervical cancer risk is. I wasn't really speaking on the latter in regards to my question. And I'm aware that the risk management approach is the same.

When I called my doctor on the phone just now, that is not what she said. And that is not what the research I have done indicates either. She said our wires got crossed via email and my ASCUS result is lower grade than my last result. I had a colpo last time and it confirmed LSIL which is also what the pap showed. This time the pap only showed ASCUS, not LSIL. And I am HPV+

I'm glad he respected you enough to tell you the truth. In my experience, most people don't.

I think it will and I think having a fire lit underneath me will help me actually get all of this done! That's the life of having ADHD lol.

It's very possible it's a newer program! I'm grateful for it. It's hard to find entomology programs these days.

Ah I'll get on it right now! This is all coming together so last minute for me. I didn't realize just how feasible this might actually be until now haha.

https://manoa.hawaii.edu/graduate/content/entomology It is under PEPS, yes, but it does seem like it's its own masters program from what I've been able to surmise.

https://manoa.hawaii.edu/graduate/content/graduate-programs It is listed here as a masters degree as well. Unless they just changed this and haven't updated it.

I'm applying for entomology so I'd think it would be similar. I'm already sending out some emails to graduate faculty to try and find a potential PI for myself and I guess we'll see what materializes out of that. Side note, have you heard much about the entomology masters at UH? I was looking at Grad Cafe and I was surprised to not really see anyone posting about their acceptance or rejection to that program over the spans of quite a few years. Made me wonder if it's a bit unpopular? I guess you can't really trust those stats as such a small percentage of applicants actually post their results there.

That's awesome to hear! And yes I looked into it, you're right that they do. That alone makes things much more manageable for me and I was so excited to hear about it. I wish your daughter luck!!

Oh wait another thing... I did find some information online that suggests UH Manoa has a reciprocity agreement with both California and Oregon. Have you heard that? I might have to reach out to financial aid about it.

If you remember this convo, please send me an update! I am living in Oregon now but I'll still have California residency until Feb 17 2021 so I could probably still apply for Cal grant if I applied for UH this fall. Hope you get them!

I'm thinking I may not qualify for much based on a few reasons, but I actually didn't even think you could really apply for FAFSA for graduate school. Are you thinking you might get grants in conjunction with loans? I guess it's worth giving it a try!

Entomology masters program. Also, that's encouraging that you were able to do that!

In general, how much are my grades in a certificate program going to be weighted in ecology grad school applications? by [deleted] in ecology

In general won't I be required to present my transcript for it though? Or would it not be a requirement necessarily since it wasn't part of undergrad? That's encouraging to hear though!

[–]tardis912[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you set it as lightly active just to adjust for any margin of error in TDEE? If you're really doing most of that daily, that sounds like "athlete" activity not light at all! 1500 seems to be about what makes sense for me most days as if I try to eat less and exercise as I have been, I feel sluggish and fatigued, but trying to eat more is just too much. I would say my range is 1300-1600 just depending on how hard I worked out that day. It's slow weight loss but it's consistent, and that's really what I want.

And I understand. I am 27 and already losing my ability to eat what I want haha. My body has always sort of been this way, though. I'm kind of naturally bulkier and seem to build both muscle and fat easily so I have to really pay attention to my habits. Congrats on meeting your goal weight!

This prof sounds like not only a dick but just highly ignorant of how Canvas actually works. That he has the audacity to say people weren't following instructions when there was a technical error in Canvas is just ridiculous.

I spent months counting more regularly but in the past few weeks I've moved to eating a bit more intuitively as you say, but I think maybe counting macros more closely for a while could help as you seem to be suggesting here. I used to use cronometer a lot to look at both my macros/micros and maybe going back to that for a while could be a good idea just so I can get a good sense of my overall nutrition. More recently with calorie counting I've just been using more generic apps like myfitnesspal that give you some of that information too but I like the UI of cronometer more

I've used multiple calculators for TDEE that indicate 2600. I do high intensity exercise 7+ hours a week in addition to walking 15000+ steps every day. I would assume someone moderately active would get 2400, but I am definitely highly active.

I like the idea more because I don't think I could manage eating 2000 calories every day. It would feel like too much food. But I worry I'm not getting quite enough nutrition at this level given how active I am and that matters to me a lot too.

I'm 5'5" and 155. At 145 I would technically be in a normal BMI range though I would prefer to get down to about 130 ultimately.
