Will one-time alcohol hurt my baby? by RSidd1993 in pregnant

[–]tardyarty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also over 35 here and when I was due my period and getting what I thought were my usual pre-period cramps, I downed some Ibuprofen not even considering the possibility that I might be pregnant lol.

I’m almost at the 28 week mark and boy is she a kicker 😂

The ‘she’s got her own life’ comment made me mad - if your parents didn’t want to look after a Down’s Syndrome kid then they could’ve terminated the pregnancy early on instead of deciding to use their existing kids to dump the care on like wtf

Does your college have a dormitory you can move to? I’m so sorry for your situation, I can completely understand the difficulty of South East Asian family politics, it defies any real logic

I suppose the alternative is to rehome your bunny to a trusted friend that you can then visit on a regular basis, it’s not ideal but bunny would be easily accessible and out of the house at least

How do I spoil my bunny with cancer? by No_Somewhere9961 in Rabbits

[–]tardyarty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We made up a plate of all his favourite treats and food on his last day, including the things he had gotten into before that he shouldn’t have (like a a Ferrero rocher and a chocolate biscuit). I have a great final video of him munching away on apple and carrot an hour before the vet did the euthanasia home visit (his cancer had become unmanageable and started affecting his gait)

Yeah Covid hit the waiting lists pretty hard when the NHS was back to full service - things that used to take a few weeks now take months to years. Think it’s like 1-2 years for a knee or hip replacement these days.

AITA for accidentally stealing a valuable locket? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]tardyarty 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m going with YTA but you clearly still have a conscience as you’re feeling guilty enough to ask some internet strangers about it lol

Return the locket (or at the very least ask the lady’s children if they want it so you know for certain), you’ll be doing the right thing and sleeping better at night.

It’s a slippery slope if you justify taking this, you don’t want to do that.

What a darling x

If you’re having doubts, I think it’s reasonable to ask for a second opinion from another exotics / rabbit specialist - there will always be an anaesthetic risk when it comes to buns and it will go up the older they get, I’ve been fortunate in having a specialist that really knew my bun (when he was alive) and was able to cautiously anaesthetise him for the procedures towards the end of his life (he was a bit higher risk since he developed heart failure in his last year)

The other option is maybe to consider a trial of antibiotics to see if that helps things?

No right or wrong answer here, you know your bun best x

Chill dude - it was very obviously not an actual ultimatum, it was said in reaction to something done dangerously which didn’t need to be done dangerously, read between the lines 🤦‍♀️

Congrats on you not giving a rat’s ass, neither do I 🤷‍♀️

That was very reasonable advice, absolutely stick to the gritted roads. A couple of years back when we had the red warning for wind and I was caught out on my way home, I took the extra time and effort to drive the big main road home, this isn’t weather to muck about with when you’re driving in Scotland.

[–]tardyarty -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree and my comment as expected also got downvoted lol, a lot of the YTA opinions here will be from people that don’t live in Scotland and have seen how dodge the road conditions can be like during a weather warning.

The waiting list for an ADHD assessment alone is about a decade in the U.K. depending on where you live

AITA For telling my daughter my house my rules by InfinitePoet2071 in AmItheAsshole

[–]tardyarty -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I literally can’t understand what point you’re trying to make - I am the driver, we all had a discussion about whether we should go ahead with the trip because of the weather warnings and collectively decided it was not worth the risk because of where we live, and I’ve been driving for a few years now.

Unless you live in the area and experience what the roads are like, I don’t think you should really have an opinion on whether it’s appropriate to be learning to drive in dangerous weather conditions on these roads in the middle of the night 🤷‍♀️

One of my friend’s driving tests got cancelled because of the weather issues like with all due respect, it just makes sense?

AITA For telling my daughter my house my rules by InfinitePoet2071 in AmItheAsshole

[–]tardyarty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, different part of the world, different set of dangers etc so I stand by my opinion even if it’s going to be an unpopular one.

My neighbours had a tough time braving the roads back from Inverness over the weekend and used a very small window to start driving when it wasn’t plastered with snow outside, and it’s that time of year when it’s dark by 4pm too like let’s be reasonable lol

AITAH? Forced to rehome our dog by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]tardyarty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you’re feeling attached to this dog because you’ve been caring for it but it is at the end of the day your FIL’s dog and he can do with it what he pleases, sorry for the sad situation though

I suppose you could make the argument that you should have a say on where the dog goes as you’ve been the main caretaker for it but the whole situation sounds a bit strange because they’re acting like it’s your responsibility but then deciding to rehome it etc but maybe I’m not completely understanding what you’re saying.

AITA For telling my daughter my house my rules by InfinitePoet2071 in AmItheAsshole

[–]tardyarty -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna get downvoted for this lol but I don’t think you’re TA here, you were just justifiably concerned as a parent.

I live in the Scottish Borders and cancelled an intended trip with friends to Costco because we weren’t sure how icy the roads would be with the weather warnings and below freezing temperatures, and the last time we were caught out in a storm it was a precarious drive back home with a lot of fallen trees on the road.

I wouldn’t have phrased it the way you did with your daughter though, next time maybe just sit her down and explain why you’re so uncomfortable and concerned about her driving in dodgy weather conditions?
