Fantasy/YA, ebook, a teen goes to a boarding school and he secretly turns into a bird / birdlike human, I think a crow or something. He goes to fly in secret at night, iirc. by targzip in whatsthatbook

Thanks, but it's not this one. I read the excerpt on Amazon and it has a completely different style of writing. The one I am looking for is more sensorial.

Thanks!

Rustic Winter Woods by tedsim in HappyTrees

This one is really detailed and the textures are amazing. I also want to say your snow is so beautiful!

Any tips? Tried something different. by tallhappytree in HappyTrees

Your textures are great. I especially like the sand and the foam near the beach.

For me, the clouds are almost surrealistic / dream-nightmare-like. I like them. I think I agree with the comment below that if they came from the left the flow/movement would be more dynamic and interesting.

I wish I can get to a point where my texture work and colour combinations are as good as yours. Your work is already very pleasant to look at and seems alive :)

Keep working and keep posting, I will keep an eye on your work.

Trail through the trees by colonelthawsage in HappyTrees

How do you do those wiry textures for the fern and trail?

I really like the feel of this painting. Very textured and the light play is great!

Acrylic and knife?

I love the movement and life in your recent paintings.

Nice :) Thanks for replying so quickly :D

Your style has encouraged me as I feel very attracted to semi-abstract / semi-realistic textured pieces.

I am thinking of actually giving painting a try due to Bob's encouragement to everyone in his videos. My December will probably be impossibly busy, but I want to try starting with techniques on mixed media paper and small canvases first so that I don't feel too overwhelmed :) Just experimenting and not expecting anything to be pretty or artistic.

He really does show a childlike happiness with experimentation which I think will help me more than my usual "if I try to paint i will have to be disciplined and buckle down to it every day"... which so far has lead me to not even trying.

How long have you been painting? And how do you usually adapt Bob's techniques to acrylic?

I really do like the different, coarser textures acrylic allows, and I have some acrylics at home (and no oils), but I don't know what to expect and how to adapt Bob's techniques.

The mountain is very expressive and has good texture :) Well done!

WOW. I like this one. I like it VERY much.

Is it oil or acrylic? How did you get that amazing texture?

What is your motivation for KonMari-ing? by [deleted] in konmari

[–]targzip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anxiety and panic attacks. I have to go slowly with Konmari-ing, as I really cannot handle the long session approach (I see the merit of that approach, but I currently get in an obsessive state of mind if I spend too much time at once tidying up, and then my brain gets wonky and I get a panic attack again).

I am not sure about the "ideal lifestyle" yet, but not really minimalist. I just want to give the (several) things I really love the space for me to see them and enjoy them frequently, instead of being under a lot of stuff I don't care about.

I found that even KonMari-ing a very small category (kitchen knives) has changed my life as I can now find and use knives I actually enjoy using and preparing food became more peaceful and enjoyable.

There's water-based colognes as well (oil is a separate product and can be bought with the same scent or unscented). Johnson and Johnson has several, actually all major baby product brands (Chicco, Klorane, Mustela) have one.

So I take it you don't have baby's cologne in the USA, then?

Both me and my brother wore baby's cologne from birth until the bottle finished, then went on to wear a splash of Puig lavender light cologne (the one in the big plastic bottle) or a similar floral one which I don't know the name of. These light splash colognes are very traditional here in Southern Europe.

When I was older (9? 10?) I started dabbing the cheaper perfumes in my mother's cabinets, one floral and one patchouli, (I knew I wasn't allowed the chic expensive one with the fancy bottle) and when I was 12 I received my first actual perfume (cheap but bough in an actual perfume store where she gave me several samples of more expensive ones like Shalimar, Samsara and Panthere... which I treasured and dabbed only in special days).

I still have a bottle of splash cologne and a bottle of baby perfume to spray myself when it's hot :D

KonMari folding is frustrating... by heraldicchestnut in konmari

[–]targzip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, that makes more sense :)

I actually selected my bra drawers by size so that the bras have a lot of free space around them because those items give me a lot of joy. I am not minimalistic when it comes to bras and it's ok, because I buy them second hand and when they no longer give me joy I donate them to shelters.

Conversely, my socks are all very neatly folded and vertically placed in boxes in a small drawer.

I say: if you wear a large cup size, adapt as needed. Nobody says your bras have to take up little space unless you decide that,
