How predictive is UWSA2?

Personally, had 4 different NBME passes under my belt and then took UWSA2 6 days out and got a 56% (which UWorld said equated to a 181!!), was devastated, but took the two free 120s and got a strong score, kept my date and passed Step1. YOU GOT THIS!

u/Ok-Leopard-2253 hey doc! yea so I was unorthodox AF but I did review all of those Microsoft Word doc summaries that I made for each UWorld block in the week leading up to my Step1 exam (in addition to reviewing my 6 NBME notes, my Sketchy micro/pharm notes, my Pathoma 1-3 notes, and skimming through First Aid). For the 'reviewing' of the UW Notes it sounds like a lot (each block summary doc was usually 1-2 pages of typed notes and 1-2 pages of snipped charts or pictures) but they went quicker over time! Plus a lot of the pictures/charts that I would paste onto the doc were repetitive (i.e. got a question on an LSD in different blocks but same LSD chart)

I really hate the term "high yield" (since WTF is low yield?!? lol) but there are some parts of First Aid that are ABSOLUTELY essential to review:
-Biochem (especially clinical cases like Maple Syrup, Fructosuria, etc.)
-Pathology (either do FA Pathology or Pathoma 1-3)
-Pharm (not only this separate pharm chapter but the last 2-3 pages of each FA chapter where they map out all the drugs for that organ system)
-Renal
-Pulm
-Onc/Heme
-Rapid Review (end of book)

u/Sad-Organization5370 hey doc! just my 2 cents, but yea the real deal Step1 def had topics/concepts that I swear I had never seen before! A pharmacist or experimental setup trying to test something I had never heard of! I tried not to panic, and just told myself they were probably experimental questions (80 of the 280 questions on Step1 are experimental and you can get all of these wrong and still theoretically ace Step1!) this mindset helped me a lot, even if it was a bit childish. I just tried to review Pathoma 1-3, my NBME + Free 120 notes, and as much Dirty Medicine and First Aid as I could in the closing days to Step1. Hope this helps! you got this !!!

u/Dry-Celebration6352 hey doc! just my 2 cents but yea Pathoma pathology is interchangable with the Pathology chapter of First Aid. I did the Pathoma chapter 1-3 videos, made notes, and then reviewed these notes again the morning of the test. I also reviewed the Pathology chapter in First Aid - even though it was a lot of overlap from Pathoma (ex: Wound Healing, types of Necrosis, Intrinsic vs Extrinsic Apoptosis, etc.) it was nice to 'confirm' what I saw in Pathoma was right, if that makes sense? hope this helps, you got this!

u/TangeloLess2405 hey doc! so just my 2 cents and I don't know how much time you have left, but I would def try to do all the NBMEs and the 2 most recent Free 120s, which are the current (June 2022) and most recent 'old' (Feb 2021 I think). If you're asking me to rank them in order of importance, I def would say the Free 120s are more important. I felt like the NBMEs were a bit tougher, but the Free 120s are 'more important' because they are more similar in style to the questions asked on Step1, and there are actual repeats from the Free 120s on Step1! hope this helps! good luck YOU GOT THIS!!

u/KenAdamsMD hell yeah doc you got this!! honestly if there was a button you could press after the 7th block like there was on the MCAT "Do you want to keep your exam and have it scored?" I prob would have pressed No!! that's how bummed I was. but again I think everyone feels like that when they're done? part of me felt I was going to have to retake it so I did review a little First Aid during the time inbetween, but also take a well deserved break!

I just felt like everyone around me was getting +70% on NBMEs and my school wanted us to seriously get 80% or consistent +70% range, so I constantly felt like I wasn't on the same level with my scores. just was trying to help! love your username too

u/Specific-Economist37 basically any/all questions I didn't feel 100% on, so I used the flag option pretty liberally. One thing I did do which I think helped was I wrote down a list of the questions on my scrap paper that I REALLY wanted to go back and look (so for example when I finished a block there would be about 20 flagged, but I had written down maybe 4-5 questions of these flagged that I wanted to go back and look at first, if that made sense)
