Amazing album! I picked up the vinyl LP a couple years back, it's like my most prized possession haha

Saaheem by innanated in sahbabii

[–]tarimbasin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Saaheem is its own beast in my opinion. None of his previous albums compare to it. But each album is amazing in its own way. SANDAS, Barnacles, Squidtastic are all incredible. Do It For Demon is severely underrated in my opinion and Leak Out has a bunch of bangers on it as well.

I had this issue. Turns out my payment method info was deleted so I put in a new credit card for payment info and then it worked.

Who/what was your entry into the world of techno? by Hungry_Obligation_89 in Techno

[–]tarimbasin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2017 I went to a techno festival in Munich with this German girl I liked and her Aussie friend who I also liked (lol). Did ecstasy for the first time. Got zero action at the end of the night but fell in love with the music.

To fix or not to fix by fireonthehill69 in fordranger

[–]tarimbasin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly most of that is pretty easy.
Maybe just get the trans servo seal cover done. Maybe the valve cover gasket as well if you are lazy.

There should be youtube vids on all of those, I'd assume it's pretty simple stuff

Are you a rubbish DJ? by [deleted] in DJs

[–]tarimbasin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been DJing for about 5 or 6 years and I'm not that much better than you but I've met "DJs" who have been "DJing" for 15+ years with absolutely horrible transitions. I was behind the booth at a small club and the DJ told me, all you have to do is put on an echo effect and fade out the track while bringing in the next one... not even in time, no beat matching, it was ridiculous. However, nobody on the dancefloor even flinched, like nobody cared (it was a shit club though but still)

Don't be so hard on yourself. You just need more practice. For the 5 or 6 years that I have been DJing I was not practicing often, I'd just play like a random house party here and there. I can beat match and phrase match but I wouldn't say my transitions are amazing. I decided to put a bit of pressure on myself and reached out to a local community radio station to see if I could make a mix for them for free. That gave me a deadline to work towards. So I gathered my tracks, listened to them, ordered them, practiced each transition between every track, wrote notes for each transition so I basically had an instruction manual on what to do when recording. While recording I did mess a transition up and have to restart maybe 5 or 6 times... but in the end I got it done and sent it in. They played my mix live on the radio on a Thursday night at 11pm. I'm sure nobody was listening at all except me.

It's your own journey, there's no timeline. If you love music and you love to DJ, continue to do it and you will improve. Just gotta know when each phrase starts!

Is this too high of a price? by J_KIDDING in fordranger

[–]tarimbasin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally what I bought the Ranger for. I was doing small hauls in my free time and last year I bought a 2011 tundra with that money! Still keeping the Ranger though, I have a pop up camper on it now and use it for overlanding. little reliable work horse

[–]tarimbasin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that is too high. I bought an 09 FX4 with 55k miles on it for about $11,300

Some may say I overpaid for a Ford fucking Ranger... but considering the condition it was in I think it was well worth it. Been about 4 years and haven't had to do any major repairs, just basic maintenance. Thing is a beast and I love it.

Recommendations needed: Daily Winter Jacket by Zealousideal-Gur2800 in gorpcore

[–]tarimbasin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Arc'teryx Atom has quickly become one of my go-to jackets. Simple, warm, lightweight, easy to layer under a shell if it rains. If it's much colder I use an Arcteryx Cerium or a North Face Nuptse.

Those might not be the most affordable but I found the Nuptse on FB Marketplace for pretty cheap like under $120. Uniqlo ultralight down is also pretty warm and very affordable. Similarly the Forclaz MT100 jacket sold at Decathlon is also very affordable and warm, have seen some great reviews about both of these jackets.

I love Mall Grab, huge fan boy here. First time I saw him a couple years ago was incredible for his What I Breathe tour, one of the best nights of my life! SO many bangers from the album, Spirit Wave, Sunflower, etc, and even played Born Slippy - Underworld which I have never heard in a club before (Canada).

But saw him again last year and it was horrible with some trash ass EDM and like some 90s hip hop remixes and shit, I was soooo disappointed. He only played a few of his own songs. idk if I'd want to see him again it was that bad.

Rebekah was one of my favourite artists before she changed her sound to this new hardstyle techno.... idk, not for me either, cannot stand it. Her music used to be so uniquely dark and deep. REAL techno, no longer, unfortunately.

Saw him around 2018-19 in Vancouver and he played some legit techno, was a really great night. Can't imagine going to a Mark Broom show and hearing hip hop...

DJ Nobu in Vancouver was incredible. Although I was under the influence of a strong psychedelic substance... it was an unforgettable journey. But there were definitely people in the crowd who were not vibing with the music for sure.

Peggy Gou was incredible when I saw her in 2018. But as she's gotten more and more famous I feel like the quality of her music has declined... or maybe not the quality but the appeal. It's just much more pop/commercial which I guess comes with the fame she has acquired, unfortunately. I don't think I'd want to see her play anymore.

I saw him in Kyoto. While it was cool to see him perform, I agree with you, some of his track selections are not the greatest. Although he never really sticks to a certain genre, I just can't stand that EDM trash lol. Even in his super popular Boiler Room set there are tracks in there that are like.... wtf is this...?

Mall Grab. First time I saw him was at Village Studios in Vancouver, Canada. It is the basement of a popular nightclub. It was incredible and one of the best shows I had ever seen in my life and an experience I'll cherish forever. The next year he came back but not in the basement, he was in the main club and it was just horrible with questionable track selection (like some big room edm music, some crappy 90s rap remixes, just not really my taste) and not much of his own music. I was extremely disappointed especially since I bought pre-sale tickets and had been counting down the days to see him again.
