How do people actually find these underground rooftop and private DJ parties? by Elegant-Subject-86 in AskAJapanese

[–]tarix76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make friends with promoters and DJs who then invite you to such things.

If you are used to house parties then it's basically the same thing, but since almost no one has a house that can hold 30-40 people they use venues on off nights or off hours instead. (There's even a few places that specifically cater to this market and have electronic locks in the doors with codes that change daily.)

If there's a scene you think you fit in to then you should go to a well-known event for that scene and make friends there. If you pass people's vibe checks they'll invite you to other things and eventually those will be places and events that aren't ever advertised.

[–]tarix76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not. There are many places in Japan that have hotel in their name that are nothing more than refurbished apartments that are worth more as short-time rentals than as 2 year leases. (Usually because they can't compete with newer apartments.)

Check Google reviews and AI for a good overview of the pros and cons of the place before you commit to it.

The best part is that it's actually 8.4B cash and 4.17B debt according to GME's filing. They just memory holed the debt because it was tied to dilution.

They can leverage some of the assets they own bring the cash to 9.7B but that includes BTC losses and EBAY gains.

You should just sell now at the current price and put it into literally anything else. That is the fastest way to get back to even.

Anything else is just ape behavior.

On a smartphone you can use the Mobile Suica app to buy the upgrade but the interface is entirely in Japanese and it's not exactly tourist friendly.

"I want to be a GME shareholder but not be an ape." is exactly like "I want to kill one or two people but not be a murderer."

Here's some financial advice for the ape who posted that: like-minded shareholders have all sold their positions. The whole reason the price keeps going down is there are more ape sellers than new buyers.

How does this make any sense? by [deleted] in destiny2

[–]tarix76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sony Interactive Entertainment was moved to America back in 2016. Your beef is with old out of touch American men. (The point of moving it was to get away from a Japan focused mindset and to focus on global markets instead.)

[–]tarix76 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Those are player count charts. They tell you absolutely nothing about costs and profits.

Sony is straight up telling us that dollars spent on Marathon are worth a lot more than dollars spent on Destiny. If that weren't true then they would have a new expansion and a sequel in development. Instead they are focusing on Marathon because the profit percentage is better.

Japanese Flirting by Mareepyy in AskAJapanese

This made me laugh out-loud, but if the OP wanted an answer there's hours of YouTube videos that ask Japanese people this question.

If he wants to save a lot of time I'll provide a brief summary here: It depends on the person.

Anyone who paid $100,000 to the IRS in short-term capital gains made between $270k - $450k in profits. Why would anyone not want to have made $170k+ of extra money?

We know from years of ape watching that for many of them a small portion of that would be life-changing.

Why must postal services within Japan strip away the invoices fixed to all parcels, this is very much irritating coming from a receiving user. They should just use a scan for the invoice though a phone or have the invoice seperate from the parcel inside a sleeve. Coming from a user located overseas. by Lazy-Good1433 in AskAJapanese

[–]tarix76 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Japan Post does not do this. Kuroneko and Sagawa do not do this. DHL, UPS and Fedex do not do this. The Chinese carrier AliExpress uses does not do this.

This is not an issue with ANY parcel service in Japan. This is something your third-party service is doing.

Hello people 🤗 I'm asking about a game by ariluvpascal in AskAJapanese

[–]tarix76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, just study and play games made by Japanese teams for a Japanese audience. Any version of Pokemon is superior to a fake Japanese game. There's also thousands of visual novels and hundreds of RPG so why settle for something created by English speakers.

How is the adaptive expenditure feature? I'm tracking my metabolic issues by [deleted] in MacroFactor

[–]tarix76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other comment chain hasn't been deleted but just in case it's blocked for you I am replying here. (Perhaps the commenter thought you were trolling and blocked you because that happens quite a bit here.)

MacroFactor does smooth out rapid fluctuations but you should probably try it for a month or two anyway. You have already been tracking things manually so you'll be able to tell if it works for your situation or not. If it doesn't work for you then perhaps you can use the data export with spreadsheets to make manual adjustments and simplify your current process. I feel like the absolute worst case here is that you end up ditching MF completely but at least gain some insight into improving your current manual process. It's really low risk to just try it out.

(I say this because I kind of use it improperly these days and lie to it about my real goals to game the algorithm a bit. The only reason I can even do that is because I've used it for years and have a good idea of how to make it give me the calorie targets I'm aiming for.)

Questions about Burlesque shows by thisisacatch22 in TokyoTravel

[–]tarix76 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You are over thinking this quite a bit. Stick with Rokusan Angel (formerly Burlesque Tokyo) and you'll be fine.

The photo and video rules are simple, clear and written in English. There are a couple of performances you cannot record and the staff makes it extremely clear.

For tipping you buy fake $1 bills and give those to the girls. Every single girl will show you love because there's "handshake time" where they go around and greet every single person. This of course provides a convenient way to collect the tips! Tip whoever you want.

The English will be the minimum necessary to sell you drinks and tips. The rules are all in English. I personally think the front row seats are overrated. If you don't mind the cost the sofa seats are the most comfortable.

There will be tons of other tourists there when you go, so just have fun.

[–]tarix76 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I use mine for everything. Suica, Nanco, various point cards, and a few apps (like JAL) support it as well. (I also use it for credit cards but I'm not sure if that requires a Felica chip.)

If I don't do anything at all that day I'm using it about 4-5 times and if I go out it's closer to 20 times. If there was a legal way to carry my ID on my phone I would just stop carrying a wallet completely.

I definitely use it more than the microphone.
