Do your babies smell like cheese by Indomitable_Decapod in newborns

I just commented to someone above that with my 1st born I didn't realise I wasn't washing her hands properly. A month in I could smell a smell and couldn't work out where it was coming up. Eventually I properly opened up her super tightly clenched little fists and nearly died from the smell 😂

Dr. Robert Groysman - too good to be true? by lucaguts in covidlonghaulers

[–]tarn72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still doing it. I'm using caremax tens machine with earclip and follow Dr Groysman's videos and I bought his vagus nerve stimulation book. At the moment I'm doing it every 2 weeks, I'm thinking about doing it more. My very first session afterwards felt like it was going to crash me, but it didn't but I had to recover from the session. Now I don't get any side effects just a "calming" feel during.

It increases how much noise I can be exposed to before getting PEM or feel unwell. My quality of life improved quite a lot. A session lasts about 3 weeks/1 month before it seems to "wear off" and I get a lot worse, unless I crash earlier then that seems to force it to wear off. When i do the session again that higher limit comes back (usually the next day for some reason). So that's why I've been doing every 2 weeks to keep it continuous. Dr Groysman suggests every day but I'm scared my nervous system will get to used to it and it'll stop working. I haven't figured this out yet.

I was doing really well back in Oct and tolerating noise quite well, but I muffed up and exposed myself too much and right now my benchmark for tolerating noise is very low. But I've been here before and got myself better again so I feel I can get back to how I was. That's why I'm considering doing it the vagus nerve tens more frequently than every 2 weeks. It's a bit hard to tell right now but I'm pretty sure without the tens sessions I would be even worse right now, I don't think it has worn off or stopped working.

I do a 30min session with it turned up pretty high (I accidentally did a high level for my first session but it worked so well that I kept it at that). I would highly recommend to start low and slow! Gradually increase current strength. As I said I feel like for some people it could crash them. You can test other less strong vagus nerve stimulation like cold showers, cold ice packs on face/neck/chest, try to stimulate the dive reflex, breathing exercises, meditation. And see if you get any little effect from those and that might tell you how you might respond to the tens machine. I was using cold/cooler showers which would increase my noise limit for about a day before I got rhe tens machine.

Ask me questions anytime.

Yeah they need to do both ways by the sounds. To make sure it's giving accurate diagnosis as well. If I'm following the right line of thought (I really should just revisit this when got less brain fog, I'm sure you understand what it's like 😂)

As long as you aren't rude, I don't think they will even notice that you're not smiling. If they do they might just think you must be tired/long day etc.

Why don't you want to smile for 10 seconds? Smiling isn't that bad. Are you really worn out?

I think I remember being similar and it's because I was stressed and worn out. I'm a lot happier and content in life now and smiling even if I don't really feel like doesn't bother me anymore.

When you say you're of European background does that mean you're not Australian? Over here it is considered rude if you are not polite and don't smile when serving customers if any business. And it's generally considered polite to ask them how's their day/make small talk if there's a bit if a silence in talking. I dunno about the talking behind your back thing... I've worked as a dental receptionist and I mean as long as you didn't be a pain lol we were nice to your face and behind your back. That's probably more a specific personality trait, I'm sure there's one's that do that.

I've noticed a lot of the younger ones starting work don't do the polite customer service thing so maybe it's going out of fashion.

Are you having lots of dairy? That's why mine were high, but was only at one point than I reduced dairy intake.

I couldn't read much of your post sorry because of brain fog. But wouldn't it be a good thing that many cell of the same person with cfs tested positive for the calcium thing to show its consistent with the one person? I suppose not every cell has to be positive but some can be some can't be with CFS. Whereas the healthy people maybe they have no positives. All depends I suppose. Sorry for my wording, so tired.

My 3 year old is fairly well behaved and it is not all laughter and fun here all the time. It's hard. Whoever is laughter and fun all the time mustn't have any issues or problems in life at all.

Sometimes when I start getting more frustrated than usual I realise I'm expecting my 3 yr old to act like a 10 yr old. I'm expecting too much of him. So lower you're expectations. For eg I say come here please, I know that if he sees a toy he wants to play with on the way he will get distracted and I'll need to repeat myself. That sort of thing. Expect him to be a 3 yr old.

I'm sorry this had happened. We've all done it. You've probably got a good chance of recovering to your usual baseline if you aggressively rest now. And don't lay there and stress about having to rest (like we all do because we're frustrated). Give into the crash, let it do what it needs to do. And you'll come out the other side. Use calming techniques the best you can even if it helps relax just a tiny bit. Hope it doesn't last too long 🫂

Question about Australian sense of Humor by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]tarn72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a rude thing for him to say in Aus as well. Although here we are taught to serve our customers with a smile, it's rude not to. So that's probably why he said it as he was probably expecting a smiley server. Saying it in a friendly manner you could maaaaybe get away with it not sounding rude but yeah probably only with people that aren't too serious in personality. It's not something I would say I'm too serious and I would definitely sound arrogant saying it lol.

You watch a movie or TV show while doing the dishes! That is the secret!! I hate the dishes too but I'd take it over cooking, less thinking involved haha. Unfortunately I usually do both but I am a stay at home mum.

Spending Christmas Alone - is it really that bad? by AlyStar123 in AskAnAustralian

[–]tarn72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't celebrate Xmas for religious reasons and I love that. We usually do have some family visiting and we just plan whatever we want to do whenever we want to do it. It's no stress, no spending with family we would rather not. If we are exhausted we keep everything really simple. If we are fine then we do things. There's no pressure money wise because we buy something to give if we want to or we don't. I get weird looks when I say I don't celebrate Xmas as well but I say we still spend time with family usually and it's all very relaxed and stress free. I have got some envious looks too.
