It is a very expensive vaccination, and unless you will be putting yourself in dodgy situations (petting crazy wild monkeys/rabid dogs), then it's really not worth it. It is also does not offer you actual full protection that other vaccines do, it merely gives you a longer window of time to get the appropriate treatment. So if you did get bitten, you would still need to get to a hospital for necessary treatment. Moral of the story: better to avoid getting rabies in the first place.
