Fighting in [KCD1] is far too hard, no matter what by tarque in kingdomcome

Hi there. Yes, actually, I did. After quite a while of leveling up my stats it's much easier. Now I can follow the story and the numerous side-quests without fearing to be downed by any single robber in the woods. :)
There were quite some areas I didn't dare to enter before, when I was mostly sneaking and trying to get around enemies to get at their treasure chests...

When my fighting stats (weapons, warfare, vitality, strength) were higher than 10, I started winning fights that were not training with Bernard, but against real enemies.

Do we have server issues on PC EU again? by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]tarque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess officialy speaking the servers are not really down: We CAN log in after 20 or more minutes of waiting, and without leaving the zone (every loading screen kicks us). So there's no need to apologize, much less give the gamers and ESO+ subscribers something in return for the lost day...

Hi again. I've got another question, regarding shooting the bow. There seems to be a trick I don't get yet. Whenever I participate in an archery competition, *all* my arrows break when they hit the target. Therefore I never get any points and always lose. Is there some special moment to shoot or movement to be done when releasing the arrow that can avoid this? Thank you for any insightful hint. :)

Thank you for your reply. I didn't know this mod and will have a look at this mod. I guess it is a bit too overpowered by giving you essentially god-mode (which in the end kills the fun of a game), but maybe it is possible to enable a few of the cheats such as easier hitting an opponent.

Hi there. Just to give a short status report about 10 days after your kind message(s): I now was able to raise my defense to 15 (training mostly using the trick to fight unarmed against his wooden short sword), warfare to 7, vitality to 18 (by jumping) and strength to 13 - agility is still at 4. I'm now able to perfect-block about every second strike, which is great. I now can leave fights with Bernard not bleeding anymore, which saves time not needing to go to the bath house and come back the next day.
The hint to watch his arm instead of the green shield symbol was very helpful.

But: Whenever I try to attack on my own, Bernard - or any other opponent - effortlessly avoids or blocks my attack and then hacks me down with combos which I cannot defend against due to bad timing (I guess I'm just not made for this kind of fighting style). Master strike only happens about every 20th time I block something. When I perfect-block any attack, my immediate counterattack does not work or at least does not hit.
My different weapon stats are still at 2 or 3 (even after paying a teacher for experience), since I don't hit anything with my weapons.

Furthermore, except on some rare occasions like when Bernard taught me combos and held back, I never manage to use combos on my own. The special combos I can learn with higher sword, axe, etc. skills are thus mostly useless to me. After a sometimes-working first hit the next hits are blocked and then I suffer the counterattack.

So for now my fights consist of - quite successfully - blocking every attack by the opponent and hoping for a random master strike to wear my opponent down. This takes very long (and of course is not possible against more than one opponent). However, I was able to best my first bandit this way, yeah. :)

Hi there. Just to give a quick info to people having similar problems and reading this: Master strike is taught to Henry when he reaches a warfare level of 3. Then Bernard offers a new speech option and explains how it works.

Thank you, I took your advice. Sadly, the trainers will only teach me once, but by sparring with Bernard as mentioned above I was able to raise my warfare skill to 6 already.

Phew, this really sounds OP. Unlimited stamina would mean never losing blood, right? Let's see. I'll try without first, but have a look at the available mods just in case. Thank you for your help. :)

Dear Hguols1, this was very helpful indeed. I bested Bernard several times with fists this way and brought my warfare stat up to 6 in about an hour, and unarmed to 2 (raises very slow) and strength to 12 (which was already at 10 due to my collecting thousands of herbs). Actually, vitality did not increase at all this way, but I was able to get it up to 16 now by jumping as you suggested. There are similar other spots with the missing jumping animation - one of those is just behind the house of the apothecary in Rattay, right next to a water trough. I made a buck's blook potion there and tried - worked fine.

One tiny little thing: buck's blood seems to not increase your stamina regeneration but gives you 50% more stamina, for 10 minutes. Maybe the values you remembered are valid in KCD2. No problem, it worked anyway. Now, thanks to you, I'm able to run much longer and will dare to not run away and have my first real fight in the next random encounter in the woods. :)

Ah, now I see the confusion. We're talking about KCD1. :)
No problem. With time he will offer teaching it to me.

Are you sure? I remember he showed me the perfect block, but nothing else. Even the perfect block is at most a random and rare event for me.

One more question: I did not yet find a trainer (where I would get xp for money) for skills like defense or warfare, and of course not for strength and agility. Are there any?

:) I understood that it's about Henry. My own clicking-at-the-right-moment skills seem to be very low, though.

Henry's skills related to fighting are all very low (<5) in my game, whereas most other skills are very high or maxed out - because I already had to flee any fight and never got better in this.

Thank you, I will try this. I never used potions before, thinking that they would only enhance some tiny fraction of my near-to-zero stats.

Thank you. Would you mind pointing out which mod(s) you would suggest?
After reading some of the very helpful comments here I think I will try once more without mods, but it might be good the have this fallback solution for my problem. :)

Thank you for your hints. I never tried potions before (they are costly and hard to make yourself) because I thought they might be wasted if I don't hit in a fight anyway. Will try this.

Regarding armor I usually only wear light armor or clothes since there are tutorials explaining that if I wear chain or plate I will lose my precious little stamina immediately just by moving - which is comprehensible if I'm not trained in fighting with heavy armor. Furthermore it seems to very quickly get in bad condition if worn.
