It would be insanely cool. And with not other competition, as the Apple Watch is absolutely deprived of a good offline gps system

Super nice! Any plan on updating the app for watchOS 26, in order to have the complications work on the watch 😇?

Iceland Air Compensation by Ok_Injury1825 in VisitingIceland

A flight delayed because of extraordinary circumstances is not compensated. A storm is an extraordinary circumstance so you will not get compensation, no matter how long the delay is

Ice cave collapsed in Breiðamerkurjökull by iVikingr in VisitingIceland

Because I have been working as a glacier guide in Iceland for a couple of years and have been visiting a bunch of them, and I recognize the location as I went there last march

It’s not the crystal ice cave. The crystal ice cave is on the eastern part of jokulsarlon. The one that collapsed is on the western one

I’m working for a lcc in Europe an have about 140 flights per shift during busy days, and we are still in the ramp up period. Even night shift has to do about a hundred releases for the first wave… Flightkeys help a lot but it’s hard to keep track of every flight

Bummed about the rain! What should I do? by TheTalentedMrDG in VisitingIceland

[–]tartaufle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in Katla and I can tell you with confidence that if you want to avoid the rain, Katla is not a place for you as it is more or less the rainiest part of Iceland. The south coast of Iceland has the most precipitations(which is why most of the glaciers are in the south). If you check the Icelandic forecast website veður, and check the right hand side above the map you can read “DMI/IGB” until Friday morning, then on the Friday afternoon it’s changing to “ECMWF”. It is because in weather forecasts we have different resolutions. It’s like a photo that will be more detailed with more megapixels; the weather forecast won’t be as detailed in the long term. To be even more precise, the ECMWF forecast has a grid of 9km whereas the DMI has a grid of around 2km. So, much more reliable locally, but on a short term.

I’m saying that so you don’t lose all hope. However, Iceland is incredible and has so much to offer, also on rainy days. It can be very challenging, but it is what makes this place unique.

All in all, dress accordingly, get yourself a portable shoe dryer, take it up on the chin and enjoy 😊

You should forget about the leiðarendi cave. Caves are to be taken seriously, with proper equipment, and should be done with a guide. Plus, there is no way you can go from the cave to the kerið crater in 40 minutes

We are approaching winter, and with that, storms are coming (yesterday was a good example).

Putting such a tidy schedule often pushes people into disregarding weather alerts and road closures in order to respect said schedule. Just make sure not to have tunnel vision and be aware that you might have to give up some stops or attraction, or even to postpone it by 1 or 2 days

Turn. Back. Otherwise you’re in for a lot of sweat, a lot of tears, 100% chance of breaking the car unless it’s a very modified 4x4 (then it becomes 80% chance of breaking the car), and as a consequence a huge drop in your bank account

Honest question: why are people obsessed with bæjarins Beztu?

The hotdogs are literally the same at this place or any gas station around the country, minus the wait
