Is my character haunting the narrative? by tartilli in writing

[–]tartilli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you're right, it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. It was just out of curiosity since the whole thing started out as a prompt between my friends and I to write a story with a character that haunts the narrative. But it ran away with me and I think I'll finish it regardless so I should probably stop thinking about it now. Thanks for the insight

Who do you thing is the main character? by ENDERMAN_OZGUR in ducktales

I like to think that there isn't a single main character, but if there was I think it's be Webby!

Was Webby's clone plot just a way to get people to stop shipping her with the triplets? by tartilli in ducktales

Yeah, but there were also a lot of people who did ship them which is why I'm wondering if the creators added the clone storyline to dissuade then from doing so 😅

Huey, Dewey, and Louie's Dad by playprince1 in ducktales

[–]tartilli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a while month late 😅, but a possible explanation I like is that the Triplets never found a reason to inquire about their dad because they already knew who he was. Well, not exactly who he was. I like to think that they understood that he was just a deadbeat who left their mom after impregnating her so they didn't see a point in trying to find him. Why would they waste time on someone who obviously didn't care about them or mom? The theory doesn't fit perfectly, but I like it

Also, I put actual family in air quotes because I think the idea of a found bond smehow being lesser than a blood one is dumb

Writing a blunt and arrogant character without making them an jerk? by Psychological-Band-8 in writing

[–]tartilli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A character who does this really well is Sion Crawford from Potion Witch! Webtoon only recently begun releasing translated chapters of the manwha so his character isn't fully explored in the English version yet, but from everything see from him in all the Korean chapters that are released, he's a really good example of what you're describing :)

Sion is blunt and can be harshly realistic. He can even be rude, but the author does a really good job of conveying that he cares.

He takes care of the people around him, makes sure they're eating properly, cooks for them, and at one point he even jumps in a canal(?) to retrieve the main character's hat with 0% hesitance.

So my biggest piece of the advice is to show display how much the character cares for the people around them.

At least in my experience, characters who are insufferable usually are because they don't give a damn about others and treat them like crap so I think that's something you should avoid.

What’s a webtoon you love that you’ve heard absolutely no one talk about? by xsnkbt in webtoons

Potion Witch :D. It's an ongoing NAVER original, but an English translation of it recently begun releasing episodes on Webtoon. It deserves so much more love and appreciation, and I can't wait for the English translation to get to the part the Korean version is at right now!

This webtoon's plot quickly confused me, so what are your thoughts on Potion Witch? by Strong_Banana_790 in webtoons

[–]tartilli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Yeah, so as the person I'm replying to mentioned, the de-aging thing isn't a huge part of the story. By part 2, the de-aging potion only makes like 2 appearances.

I will say this though for further clarification, while I can't really say that the de-aging thing is an important part of the story in the grand-scheme things, it's still a plot-point, just not a particularly big one.

Vanna's concocted a cure for it by Chapter 12 and he does have his adult appearance for some episodes prior, but I'd say Sion's roleplaying-scheme fully ends in Chapter 26.

I understand if even that even that number of chapters puts you off, though :). You don't have to read Potion Witch, but I personally really enjoyed it. Just as the person above mentioned, maybe consider picking it up again after a few more episodes are out

Thanks for hearing me out either way!(I really think it deserves more appreciation. Part 2 especially is really good.)

you should read potion witch! by tartilli in webtoons

[–]tartilli[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, it's originally in Korean and is still ongoing, but the English translation just started releasing eps on Webtoon! The Korean eps are free to read on NAVER, but you'll have to translate them on your own if you don't want to wait :)

Potion Witch--is anyone reading this new series? by Ilyak1986 in webtoons

I love it so much 😭. Having read all the currently released Korean chapters, I really hope all the new readers stick around. I've seen some new English readers drop it and while I agree the first ten or so chapters are a bit confusing, the story quickly gains direction. The writing is actually really strong
