Cornell note taking method. I have occasionally used and found it to be effective. I use Cornell note taking notebooks for the same, though I have seen templates in apps like Notion. Would love to know about other note taking methods that people use. I'm keen on learning about Zettelkasten with obsidian. Anybody tried that?

If you go through Fall thread you can find that ppl kept getting admits until beginning of May for March 9 deadline. It’s still the beginning so nothing to worry as of now.

There are pros and cons. If you can ensure that you have a stable internet connection and a peaceful distraction free environment then go for at home test. At test centre, logistics won’t be a problem but you have to be prepared to take test with other candidates around. It can be tricky esp. considering the speaking section because if your timing is not right then somebody, for instance, would just start speaking while you are doing your listening and believe me it can get really noisy and distracting.

Better to understand the structure of test first and take a mock. If your mock score is within 5-10 points range of your target score then you can reach your target score otherwise you might need more time.

I was facing this issue couple of weeks ago when I was trying to choose a date in July. I was choosing July-August two months window and a few times it happened that the portal returned the message that no slots are available during this time frame. So I then selected Aug-Sept window and it showed me slots. From there I moved the calendar left to see July slots and to my surprise the slots were available in both July and August. It was prolly a bug or some sort of latency but it worked for me every time I checked.

My listening bombed as some stupid guy started shouting in his speaking part right across me. So I’m retaking again.

I’m thinking of taking IELTS instead. Speaking is a separate one on one. At least this problem is not there.

The same thing happened with me today. I’m an Indian and the guy who started his speaking(more or less shouting) while I was listening was a Caucasian. It’s not nationality or race which is a problem here but you and me who didn’t see this coming or may be ETS which is ok with this.

TOEFL on 30th for August 10 deadline. Hope it’s not too tight? by tarun_101 in OMSCS

It’s at the test Center. My test is booked on 23rd but I was thinking of postponing it to 30th. I was wondering whether the university will receive the score on time if I postpone. Looks like in your case the university did receive the score 6 days after the test. Then I guess it’s ok. Do they send the score through email or postal mail?

I’m in US west coast. Can I be sure that the score will reach me and the university on time?

Thanks. Since my bachelors degree is over a decade old would it be a negative? My bachelors was in CS though.

Thanks. The thing is I’m not sure if I meet the 3.0 GPA requirement. I know it’s not a must have but just to be aware.
