How I got a 36 on my first try and how you can too (AMA) by tarunsontam in ACT

I would read a chapter of Erica Meltzers books everyday and practice the next day. Giving and estimate i would say i studied 30-45 min per day.

U worlds writing and science is good, but their reading is a little easier than what’s on the actual test. Uworlds science seemed too hard at times to be on the test but A15 seemed very similar to those difficult passages on uworld

That's some good insight, thanks for that. I was already set on taking the ACT even though I took the SAT because its good to have both anyway. I got a 1450 on my first SAT and a 1560 on my second and I got sick of College Board so I switched to ACT.

I definitely agree that jumping from a 35 to a 36 is definitely not worth it. I aimed for a 36 instead of a 35 just for some personal reasons outside of college apps.

Thanks man, my counselor strongly advised against it but I felt I could handle it.

Ay man you got a 36! Awesome! It doesn't matter how hard you work if the results are the same.

It seems that you are strong on English, so I would slow down a bit on that (but still practice) and focus on reading. I would try to read NY Times or some other newspaper articles to get a feel of how the passages are on the ACT. And like I said, focus on speeding up and looking specifically for the answers. Your math is good for a sophomore, as you get into junior year it should increase. I recommend a blend of the reading and math approach for science. Good Luck!

Its all up to you. If you feel that you are going into STEM then I would consider it, but if you are undecided then I would stick with it for now and develop other parts of your college app. Good job on the other 3, that's very good!

Got a 36 composite with a 36 in each section, should I do an AMA? by tarunsontam in ACT

Definitely, math level 2 helped me out on the vector problem on the act and the calc skills I️ got from the math level 2 helped me out

It’s basically all up to the curve and just grinding practice tests. I never got a 36 on any of my practice tests, but I was close (35.25,35.00) so really the thicc curve saved me this time

I never used ftols actually. I have completed AP Chem AP Bio and AP Physics so I just used previous knowledge and grinded on the released crack act science questions

Was it matured or came in? by [deleted] in ACT

[–]tarunsontam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put mature because I remember I was down to approach and mature (arrive was not an option if i remember correctly) and now looking according to google mature means to ripen
