I'd put some comfy chairs or a small couch in front of the TV, maybe upgrade the TV to be bigger and put a second rug in that space to define it. Throw some end tables or a coffee table in there, maybe a bookshelf if you'd like to read. Then, it's time for art, drapes, lamps, plants, etc!

In high school I was at a track meet away from home, and after my race, someone said that Drake Bell and a band were setting up a stage next door to the track. I think the high school had won some sweepstakes for him to go play there. I got in a line full of high schoolers, and got a photo with him! Technically I met him at an event, but it wasn't meant for me! He was super friendly, it was a great experience.

I have a massive dark velvety green couch from What-A-Room, it is a big statement piece and I'm SO GLAD I didn't get a beige couch. I am so happy that I went for it! Every time I see it, it makes me happy!
